Yes, it is. But how well his interpretation works is a valid thing for me as a
C&Cer to give an opinion on. In this case, it came across to me as nothing more
than a case of "Author doesn't like a certain character, so he's going to write
him as complete scum." If that wasn't his intention, he might want to ask why
the story came across that way, at least in one case.

Oh really? Could you possibly direct me to somewhere in the manga that
supports this? As I understood it, Genma's thefts were just a few
isolated incidents. Not that the spirit couldn't argue this line anyway,
but Ranma ought to expose it for the BS that it is.
Can you point to a reference that wouldnt? Keep in mind that there's a
*lot* of time that the manga/anime doesnt cover.
The assertion that Genma stole everything that he could get his hands on is
pretty obviously false. Genma stayed at Picolette Chardin's place for quite a
while, for example, but the Chardins never woke up to a house empty of
furniture. Hell, if Genma wanted to, he could go out mugging people; I imagine
being a panda would work *really* well for that. But he doesn't. Now why is
that?
And, IMO, the author character biases noticeably weakened the story. As
I've said before, check out <http://ranmascan.dhs.org> for scanned and
translated Ranma manga; it's the best antidote for fanfic cliche
characterizations.
Removing *all* fanfic cliches is never a good idea. Takes away half the
fun, and more than half of the (more-or-less) accepted explanations of some
very unexplainable events or things.
What exactly does Genma stealing everything in sight explain?
Hell, a many of the "fanfic cliches"
have been shown to be accurate anyway.
Of course not. If they were accurate ("accurate" meaning shown in the manga, or
at least consistent with it) they wouldn't be cliches.
