Right.  Ranma picks up new techniques like some people pick up lint.  He
revised the chestnut fist once or twice on the spot.  He did the same thing
with the Hiryu Shoten Ha and Mouko Takabisha.

Maybe this isn't immediately clear, but my story takes place at least 16 years
after the end of Ranma 1/2 (I'm thinking a nice round 20, just to make things
simple, though).  We've all seen what Ranma can learn in a matter of days
when he sets his mind to it.  Since he has been trying to leave in relative
peace, he has probably had a good 10 years or so for mind numbing boredom
to set in.  What better way to occupy yourself than to work on techniques?

The translation of the manga I read didn't seem to indicate that it was
impossible for other people to drain ki without the physiological modifications
Hinako had, just that Hinako needed them.  It doesn't seem like that big
a leap to say that Hinako only needed them because she wasn't already a
ki-manipulating martial artist.
