As no one has C&C'd chapter 1 yet in any way shape or form, I can only
hope someone will this one, because I had some trouble doing this
chapter, and hope it comes over okay. (What does it take to get C&C
anyway?) 

I can't answer that for everyone, of course, but I can for myself; perhaps
the answer will be general enough to be useful.

First, send pure ASCII text.  Yours had those abominable "smart quotes",
which make the text difficult to read, and even a slight difficulty can
make the difference between reading and not reading.  In this case, I got
two screens in and quit.  Sorry, but that's what happened.  Presentation
really does count.

Second, send C&C yourself; if I recognize your name as an active FFML
participant, I'm that much more likely to C&C your fics when you post
them.  If you'd sent me C&C on one of MY fics, I'm quite likely to return
the favor, too.

Third, send something I like.  :)  This is terribly subjective, I know,
but in general I C&C fics that I enjoyed reading, but that seemed to have
problems of such a nature that I felt my comments would be helpful.

Fourth, send it when I have some free time.  :) :)  You'll just have to
trust to luck on that one...

Above all, don't get discouraged.  There are the occasional bursts of
excitement and quiet spells, but on the whole this is a good crowd.
