There's been a lot of discussion lately on writers who use different kinds
of text with varying results and readability issues.
Most of these center around MS-Word and its tendancy to use extended
characters not found in standard ASCII.
For this reason, I suggest using Notetab Light, a pretty damn nifty
*freeware* text editor.

While I use Notetab to compose in, it also makes an excelent companion for
those who use higher end word processors. It can split lines at the
character position of your choice, replace non-system characters, save to
DOS, Windows, Unix and Mac character sets, and strip HTML and E-mail
formatting from text.
All the menus and toolbars are customizable and the program uses quite a
bit fewer system resources than Word or WP. The shareware version, which is
$10, also comes with a spellchecker and thesaurus.
All parts of 'The Clan' and 'Ranma's Apartment' as well as 99.9% of my
other fics were composed in Notetab. For those who've been out to my
website, all the HTML pages there were created in Notetab also. By day, I
work on a Mac and by night I use a PC. I never have any problem taking text
files back and forth.
It's not perfect for everybody, but if you're getting complaints that you
fics are unreadable, give it a try.
