I do have to applaud all parties in this discussion - it is the first
sequence of fic, C&C, and response that was not only well-thought and
intelligent, but also the entire exchange was WITHOUT FLAMES from
_anyone_, nobody piped up with useless references.
   As for the fiancee's, consider:

     1. Under circumstances where Ranma is in trouble in one way or 
another, she has been shown to be able to put away any reservations 
about him that she had. Case in point, near the end of the Hiryuu
Shoten Ha episodes, _she_ is the one who goes to him, willing to go
with him wherever he needs to in order to regain his strength. By 
contrast, Ukyou did not consider how the loss of his physical prowess
would almost utterly destroy his self-image, but only considered how
_she_ would have him as a husband, the image being one of him sitting
on the floor playing with their kids while she went to work. And
Shampoo didn't seem to have an opinion one way or another. This is 
possibly because she knew Cologne could restore his strength, but, 
IMHO, more likely because she is not really as interested in HIM as 
she pretends, but rather in claiming a husband to strengthen her tribe.
If she married Mousse, she would not strengthen her tribe, since he is
already a member. She possibly wants to see Mousse as a friend, but the
only evidence I have seen for anything more was the second movie.
     The nature of OOC or IC is one that is best taken up with in 
longer fics. The only ones I see as really being OOC are Kasumi, and
Akane. I see hints of not only Nodoka, but also various movie and TV
mothers, etcetera, in Kasumi, while the old 'violent maniac' Akane is
in full form here. Yes, she has a temper. However, if someone is really
hurt, especially Ranma, she becomes almost overly concerned. She also
does not seem to hate any of the official fiancee's, assuming Kodachi
is not an official fiancee, and even seems to get along well with
Ukyou - as long as Ranma's not around. The only times she gets angry
with him are times he makes her jealous, and times when he insults
her about something she cares about, such as her cooking.
Unfortunately,
such scenes happen often, and she completely loses her temper, 
something which, from what is shown in the manga and the anime, she has

never before been taught how to control.
     If only the people who write 'Akane the violent maniac' fics could

be put in a blender with people who write 'Saint Akane' fics, turned on
puree, then reconstituted. A more balanced Akane will provide for more
enjoyable fics.
