Few months ago, I came up with a rather unusual idea for a Ranma. It's
undoubtedly one of the most bizarre ones I've come up with, plus deserves a
merit of being original.
Through some weird circumstances or effects, Ranma (who either dies or not)
ends up being reborn as Akane's child. How would Akane react to this - the
baka she has known for so long and was just beginning to open to him is now a
baby. HERS, no less.
While Akane has to come to grips that she won't be able to marry him, she now
has an opportunity to form a more permaent Parent/Child bond with Ranma,
correct his ideals before they even have had chance to be corrupted. Ranma
would end up being more socially aware and more considerate of others. Faced
with burden of raising a rather troublesome Ranma, she would be forced to
mature quickly.
What about Ranma? He'd either have lost all of his past memories and
identity, essientaly a blank slate for Akane to start with, or he gradually
regains his memories as he grows older, including knowledge of martial arts.
For the latter case, Akane can easily correct his 'flawed' ideals before they
have a chance to solidify. In other word, Akane can remodel Ranma into a
better person.
Also, a point to consider: would he still retain his curse? His fear of cats
would probably be still intact, and therefore he would remain a danger to
others.
Onlooker: "Aw, how cute! A boy's pretending to be a cat! Don't you think so--?
Ranma: Miya! (swipes)
Onlooker: Yiaaa!
Also, being reduced to a child, all of vendetta (by his enemies) or
deals/arrangements (by Genma) would be automatically void and without a
proper grounds to be based upon.
Ryoga? He'd have conflicting feelings- Akane's now free and he could take
advantage of this opportunity, but this creates incredible sense of heavy
guilt for him. Also, he's been cheated of his chance to get even with Ranma
for another 16 years. However, by the time Ranma's grown to his original age
of 16 years, Ryouga would have forgiven him by then.
Ukyo's purpose of either getting even or hitched to Ranma would have been for
naught now. Eventually, she would have to settle for being Ranma's 'aunt.'
Kuno'd probably ramble on about how Ranma had forced Akane into carry Ranma's
child and would attempt to kill Ranma outright once he's born. Kodachi
confined to mental insitution or die from broken heart that her Ranma-sama
had abandoned her.
Shampoo? Heart-broken, grief-stricken. Probably would try and vent her anger
at Akane for 'taking her arien away." However, with Ranma being 'offically'
dead, Shampoo would be free to return to her homeland.
Mousse would be simply estatsic.
Cologne would be disappointed at the loss/delay of incorporating Ranma into
Amazons.
How would Ranma's world be different from the one he had 'departed' 16 years
ago? Any chances any of Ranma's finacees had at getting married with would be
shot down. A 16 year-old Ranma being roped into a marriage with a woman in
her early thirties is a frightening prospect. Would insanity still follow
Ranma wherever he goes?
How would he fare, having been 'reinstructed' by more mature Akane? How would
the world react to the 'new' Ranma's arrival? Considering the fact that Ranma
was born without an aid of father, Ranma is essientally 'fatherless'. People
in Japan usually frown upon unwed mothers; Akane would either remain single,
devoted to raising Ranma, or be forced to marry a man out of sake for Ranma
to be born out of wedlock.
Would Ranma ever cope with having to call Akane 'Mom'?! Would Akane adjust to
Ranma calling her 'Mom?! >:D
I would LOVE to hear YOUR ideas and thoughts on this one. Either public or
private.
Although I might write this someday, this is one idea I can say almost with
certainity that will NEVER see to fruition, I think it would be an
interesting read. If anyone would like to give this a try, please let me
know. Thanks,
Until I find something new to write, Ja ne-
