    Well, Ami is friends with Usagi at this point.  This could have brought
out a more outgoing attitude in her.  Also, Ami hasn't really shown that
she's scared of making friends.  She just has a little trouble getting to
the intro part.

Either way, Ami is an introvert, not one to make friends easily.
Operationally, that's pretty much the same difference.

If she's Akane's twin, then presumably she's
defined her identity as the Anti-Akane and vice versa.  Where Akane is
physical and extroverted, Ami is intellectual and introverted.  Of
course deep down they'd probably have some fundamental similarities,
such as both being prudes and Akane would be smarter than she let on,
while Ami would have a well-concealed temper.

    You can't give Ami-chan a temper.  It's just wrong.

So she has _no_ temper, and thus has a hard time keeping her rage
contained? That don't sound much like her.

Ami has a _good_ temper. She keeps her temper under control. I'd say that
Ami maintains a great deal of control over her anger (which is more than I
can say for Akane). If her inner cauldron of hostility is anywhere as
volitile as Akane's, it would explain just how awesome this girl's
self-control is.

You'd need a new major villain, and probably a fair chunk of the
standard Ranma cast would fall under it's sway, including the Kunos and
Ranma.

That would be a change from Prince-of-the-Week! :)

    He's something I would really like to see.  Have a youma endanger
Akane.  Ranma, of course, will rush to the rescue, but he gets beat up too.
Sailor Mercury is forced to save the day.

    I don't think Akane and Ami should share the Sailor Mercury title.
Maybe Ami's past life could have had a twin sister too.

    This fic has possibilities.  I haven't really seen that many Sailor
Moon alternafics.  I really like the premise.  The Tendo family could use
someone like Ami in their family.  They need a member with a brain.  Nabiki
has proven herself to be tricky, witty, and calculating, but I don't she'd
score all that high on an IQ test.

About IQ: IQ tests really only measure how well you do on IQ tests and have
very little to do with intelligence.

Also, smarts in R1/2 is rather like sanity in NGE; any normal amount of it
puts you head and shoulders above the norm of the cast. That Ami would be
the brain of the Tendou family is, quite frankly, not saying much. I'd say
Nabiki has around average intelligence, with the addition that she's a
business savant.

    The reason for the premise, however, is something I'm not all that fond
of.  I, personally, think it's just wrong to compare Ami to Akane.  Ami is
my favorite character is Sailor.  Akane, however, isn't one of my favorites.
 I'm just not all that fond of main characters.  The only real similarities
that they share is the hair style and color.  It's kind of hard to compare
anything else because the art styles are different for each series.  Also,
Ami is smarter than Akane, and could kick her ass as Sailor Mercury.

Please leave discussions about whether X is cooler than Y and Z and/or
whether X can kick Y and Z's butts out of this, please.

Here's a cliche idea: when in doubt, create a new Sailor Scout. Before
General Relativity, scientists theorized that there might be a planet
orbiting closer to  the sun than Mercury, and named this planet Vulcan (I'm
not kidding!), which gave Mercury a wierd orbit. They found no such planet,
so other oddities were considered before GR finally explained it.

And so, Akane is... Sailor Vulcan!!
