Lately I've noticed that a lot of people like funny fics. Something

this fic is the exact opposite of a funny story. It is serious, very

Part 4 of Beguile.....
It was a week since the assassination of Allen Torelm. The elaborate
ruse set up by Jeros and his allied was working. It looked as though the
Remen had caused the assassination. Maybe the people knew it wasnt
true, but they needed to think it was true. The people and soldiers were
filled with sorrow, but there hatred for the Remen was greater then
their sorrow. This caused all the factions to unite and the size of the
anti-government force to double in a week, and support
tripled.
The king had returned and learned of this news. After this had
happened he had vanished, causing the people to lose faith in the
government, and bringing more support to the
anti-government movement.
Jeros took control of the anti-government forces, and he was well
accepted because he was Allens best friend, and a great tactician. He
claimed that his missing hand was lost in a fight against some bandits.
He said that Emy fought beside him, the reason for her lesser wounds.
The people accepted this and turned their attention to the more
important issues, the Remen and the government. It was only a matter of
time before the Teln government would be destroyed. Most of its army
had joined the anti-government forces as well as the Teln senate and the
nobles.
Things were going bad in Remen as well. Public outcries against the
government were mounting and a riot was coming soon. Though the Teln
army has taken care of most of the rioters, the death of the rioters has
infuriated the people, causing the rioters to gain more support. But
another thing that was on the peoples minds was the Teln situation. They
knew that the government could and probably did kill Allen. And so that
fanned the flames of anger and revolution. And it seemed that it would
get as bad as situation at Teln soon, very soon.
But Armel was not untouched by hatred for the government. It seems
the people arent happy as with what Youlem has been doing lately. Its
no where near as bad as whats happening in the other two countrys, but
who knows..........
What do you mean the people are angry? I bellowed at Asmor. I was
very angry at the news he bore.
Asmor shook hid head as he looked down at the parchment he held.
The people arent exactly happy with what your doing. They dont like
the fact that you turned down Sainmers offer. And they dont like the
way you posted guards all over the city.
But sending troops to Teln would be like fighting a war, dont they
know that. Ignorant bastards. And the guards are protection. Why cant
they just see that? I muttered.
Asmor shrugged at the comment and rolled up the parchment. You
shouldnt be telling that to me, tell it to them.
I shook my head and tried to relax, but the throne wasnt very
comfortable. No, I cant, they wont listen.
Well maybe you should remove the soldi- Before he finished I cut
him off. With the words, go away. And frankly he listened to them, it
was not the day to challenge one of my decisions. I was hot, tired,
hungry and angry, together making one unhappy camper.
Then I heard a knock at the front entrance followed by the voice of
a young man I only knew to well. Ah, your majesty. Theres a man here
to see you. Hes hurt very badly and goes by the name of Sainmer Horim.
I looked at the closed door in surprise, Sainmer Horim? Hes been
missing for almost a week. Now he turns up here and wounded, what the
hell? Get the medic, and tell him Ill be out right away.
Yes your majesty. Was the reply as the sound of running feet was
heard.
I then leapt out of my throne and ran to the main door. I slowly
opened it and ran down a long, straight hallway, passing door after
door. I then reached the door at the end of the hall and flung it open.
When I looked inside I saw a large empty room except for two knights
and a man lying on the floor, Sainmer.
The knights were clad in white armor that had a golden cross painted
onto it. They wore a long white cape with the insignia on it but wore no
helmet. They carried white swords which were in white sheaths. They wore
all white making them look rather holy. These were the Armels holy
knights, some of the greatest fighters on the continent. I was once a
member of these knights, a long time ago.
They were guarding the man lying on the floor, coughing up blood. He
wore wool pants dyed purple and a black shirt. Both of these were torn
up and covered in blood. His brown cloak looked like it was mutilated
with large chunks of it cut off. His sword lay beside him, covered
completely in is and other peoples blood. Most of the blood was dry, but
the blood on the hilt was fresh. As was the blood all around him. He was
bleeding pretty badly and looked as though he might die, but I knew
better, Sainmer was a strong man.
I ran over to his body and the guards made no move to stop me, they
simply backed away. I tapped him on his shoulder and he looked up at me,
coughing up a little more blood. Damn it. Theyve invaded. Bastards.
I looked at him, wondering if what he said was what I thought. You
mean the anti-government movement has taken Teln?
Sainmer nodded and coughed a few more times. Yeah. Jeros has taken
over and moved the military force through the whole country. There was
almost no resistence, so greatly outnumbered that Teln troops
surrendered.
Before I could raise another question, a medic came in, carrying a
large bag of stuff. He told me to back away from Sainmer and so I did.
And the man began to check him over, giving drinks and rubbing salves on
him to reduce the main and heal the wounds. It seemed everything was
going to be all right, but then two guards entered the room carrying a
man.
The man looked to be in his mid-thirties and very lightweight. He
was of a light build and rather short, but looked amazingly agile. He
wore tight black pants and a black tunic. His eyes were barely open, but
they were a dark brown. His hair was shaved off but from what I could
tell
of the small remaining pieces was that his hair was dark brown. The man
looked beat up, he had bruises all over his face. T
he two guards were holding on to him tightly, even though he was
bound with robes. The knights were just regular knights and had no
decorations on their armor, and they wore helmets. The guard on the
right of the man was the one to talk though. Your majesty, we caught
this man downtown. We chased him for three hours, until we caught him on
Demor street. The man has only said that he was a spy, thats all we
could beat out of him.
I smiled, that was the first good news in a long time. Just leave
him here. Ill make him talk. This was going to be fun, we bagged
ourselves a Remen spy. O yes, and one more thing, get the troops of the
streets.
The knights bowed saying, Yes your majesty. Then they went out the
front door and left to tell the other guards the news.
I then turned my attention to Sainmer, who was no longer bleeding. I
didnt know how the medics did that, but they had a way of healing
wounds quickly. It was a skill that I wished the combat medics were as
good at.
The medic walked over to me and handed me a bag of small capsules.
Make him eat one of these each hour. That should prevent the bleeding.
Hes a strong man and should be better by tomorrow morning.
I nodded and the cleric left the room. I looked down at Sainmer who
looked like he had seen hell, or at least heard to much about it. I
pitied him, losing his country and he could stay here if he wanted to.
What happened?
Sainmer coughed a little, but no blood came out of his mouth, which
was a good sign. I was coming here, to seek refuge when. He coughed
some more and then continued. When I was attacked by twenty of the
movements men. It was me and four of my royal guards against twenty of
the movements best soldiers. We, no, only I won, the others are dead.
But then how did you get here. The battle must have been in this
area if you made it here.
He nodded and coughed some more. Just outside the city. The
movement is planning something big. I think their planning to take the
whole continent. Remen is most likely next.
I agreed with what he said, it made a lot of sense. Thats the
smart place to go for. No matter how much I hate the Remen I have to
warn them before its to late.
He shook his head. Its already too late. I still have some friends
in high places. From what Ive heard, the place will be invaded today.
Today! Thats impossible! To mobilize a large force, move them to
Remen, and to take the whole country would take at lest two weeks, at
least. How the hell can they do it?
Sainmer shrugged a little. I dont know, but maybe that spy can
tell us.
I looked over at the man lying on the floor, tied up and gaged.
Maybe he could give me the answers I sought, maybe. Sainmer. Are you up
for a little interrogation?............
Jeros! Yelled a feminine voice as she entered the room.
Jeros looked straight at her from the Teln throne. Ah Emy, what is
it?
Emy closed the door behind her in fear someone else would hear their
conversation. Ive got bad news. Very bad news.
Jeros sighed as he moved his hand over his new throne it was so
nice. What is it?
The king has escaped.
Jeros stood up and hit his hand on the throne as hard as he could.
Damn it! Hes probably in Armel by now.
And theres worse. Said Emy in a very low voice.
Jeros looked at her and a fiery anger burned in his eyes. And
whats that?
Emy sighed as she fiddled with the hilt of her sword. She looked
around the dark room. For once she noticed that there was no lighting.
But Jeros stood out because he wore a white kings robe. Emy wore ll
black though making her hard to see in the dark. Uiel has been found by
Armel troops.
Jeros growled and took the crown off his head, throwing it up
against the wall. It hit the wall with a clank and fell to the floor
with a clang. The thing cost over a hundred gold, and now it was dented
and broke. Sloppy bastard! How could he get found like that? Hes
probably been caught. How old is the news?
Emy sighed. Four hours old. He probably is caught.
Then he had compromised the whole plan. Looks like well have to
invade with force since he destroyed our plan. He has taken the soldiers
off the streets?
Emy nodded. Most likely. Nothings certain but all signs say yes.
Jeros looked at the broken crown. Then Youlem is our greatest
enemy. If he finds out about the revolution front then hell tell
everyone. Then our people will hear of this and they will find out about
us. Well be bitten by our own dogs.
Emy sighed, knowing it was true. But at least Remens ours. Maybe
we can scrape up enough military force
to take them out.
Jeros nodded. Maybe............
Your plan failed Relen! Yelled Moraner.
Im sorry your lordshi- I mean Moraner.
They found some sort of spy, it must be Teln since its not ours.
Now they take the soldiers off the street and find a spy they set out to
find. Now the people wont be angry, theyll
be happy because of what their king did.
Relen sighed but smiled as he decided it was time. But theres
still a way to pick up the broken pieces, still a way to win. Your death
will not be in vain.
Moraner looked surprised. What are you talking about? He mentally
cursed himself for not bringing his sword.
Relen produced a knife from his sleeve. Now the only way to win is
through a military conquest. The revolution front didnt want it to come
to this but it looks like it has to. With your death we will be united.
With that he threw the knife at Moraner. It directly pinned him in the
head.
Moraner cursed Relen with the last of his breath and then died.
Slowly blood seemed onto the black floor. If it wasnt marble then it
might have been stained. Relen kicked the mans body aside and sat on the
throne. It would soon be his. But right now it was time to make it look
as though The Armel did this. And so began Relens task.............
I hit the man in the stomach. He spat out some blood on the floor
which added to the pile. All this man had told me for the past hour was
his name, Uiel Eri. I hit him again and yelled at him. Tell me who your
working for and what your doing here."
Sainmer was sitting on a chair not far from here. He was in pure
darkness and sweating very badly. This room was designed to make people
snap. It was very small, there was no
ventilation, and no light. It was as hot as hell and twice as mean,
everyone snapped eventually.
The man was bound by his hands and legs with ropes that were tied
into slots in the wall. Damn you Armel slime. Ill never talk.
I sighed, this man was tough. But there was one thing he didnt
expect, and probably couldnt handle. Sainmer, hand me the gauntlet.
Sainmer tossed me a large metal gauntlet with jagged edges and small
spikes. This thing was made of pure steal and hurt a hell of a lot when
it hit. And so it did when I put it on my right hand and punched the man
in the stomach.
Blood poured out of his mouth and onto the brown limestone floor.
The smell of blood only added to the disgusting rooms physique. The
pain can stop whenever you want it to Uiel. Just tell me what I want to
know and the pain stops.
Uiel shook his head so I continued to hit him. Once in the face and
twice in the chest. I could hear bones crack and flesh rip. The best
thing about this was it could provide maximum pain without killing the
person. But it would hurt anyones soul just to use it. I sold my soul
though, when I became king. I sold my soul for the protection of my
country, I had no mercy to give.
After a few more blows the man finally gave up, but it took a lot of
his blood to be spilt. What do you want to know?
I smiled and tossed the gauntlet to Sainmer who caught it and put it
in a box o torture devices. Who are you working for?
The man hesitated for a second but when Sainmer showed him the
gauntlet again he began to talk. Im a member of the Almeir revolution
front.
Me and Sainmer were surprised, and I asked the question that both of
us wanted to ask. What is the Almeir revolution front?
Uiel sighed and began his short tale. The Almeir revolution front
was a organization founded two hundred years ago. It was designed by
people who wanted to put an end to the petty bickering between the three
countries. A group that wanted peace.
I crossed my arms. Continue.
We had strict morale rules that prevented us from using any evil
plans to gain control of the continent and bring peace. But.
I frowned at him. But what?
But, we knew that wouldnt work. So we forsook the rules which our
founders laid out for us and followed our own path, a path of darkness.
That was about twenty years ago.
So you sacrifice your ideals to achieve your goal.
He nodded and hung hid head low. Well all be damned to hell for
what we did and what we are doing.
Now tell me about how your going to invade Remen. You dont have
the military force to even try.
Uiel smiled and nodded. You know that much eh? Well its not an
invasion as much as it is a change of command. Moraner is to be
assassinated by Relen and Relen is to become the king. He is one of us.
He is to make it all look like he was assassinated by Armel assassins.
I snorted at that comment. What will that do? People here in Armel
wont believe that, we have no assassins, and everyone knows we fight
battles head on.
I know. But the Remen will believe it and outcry for war against
you. No matter how much they hate their king, having him killed by Armel
assassins would be going to far. And then they would sign a treaty with
the Teln and invite Armel to join in it. You would refuse because the
treaty would put Teln in control of all three kingdoms, making only one
kingdom. The people would get angry at you for this. The treaty, the
soldiers on the street, the refusal of Sainmers offer, and a rumor we
would plant would get them very angry. Then we have one of our men come
here and start a rebellion. It would quickly gain support and then we
would topple the government and take control. Or at least that was the
plan. But you screwed it up.
I screwed it up when I caught you. Now there will be no soldiers.
The people will understand and be proud of what I did to capture this
spy. Then I would expose you to the
people. Rumor would travel to Remen and Teln, causing a rebellion.
Exactly. But of course nothing is certain now. Who knows who will
win this. But Im laying bets on you.
Because the people will let me wage war on the other countries when
they hear of a group of anarchists trying to gain control of the
continent.
Yes. And now that their plan is gone they will try to invade you by
force Im sorry to say. Jeros is our leader, and he no longer has a
soul. He killed Allen and set it up to make it look like the Remen did
it.
They planned it out very well. By putting Teln in charge of the
Remen they will remove the peoples urge to invade the Remen because they
now control them. The Remen
wont mind because they need strong leadership and they know Jeros is a
strong leader from rumors and knowing he took control of a country.
Assuming they will still make the treaty.
Uiel nodded. Yes. Theyll make the treaty, they need any edge they
can get to fight you. That's why they blamed you for the assassination
of the Remen king, so more Remen soldiers will join the army so they can
kill the people who killed their king. And a thousand men fighting for a
cause are better then a thousand men fighting for money.
I sighed in agreement and looked over at Sainmer. What do you think
Sainmer?
Sainmer sighed as well, knowing what was coming soon. I think war
is going to begin soon, and we have to be ready. Sainmer then sighed
and knelt before me. I pledge allegiance to you until we can get my
kingdom back. If we do, Ill forever be in your debt.
I was caught of guard by this but it was a good thing to have a good
swordsman on your side, even if its only one. I accept your
allegiance. But right now we still have to question Uiel.
Sainmer nodded and limped back to his chair, groaning a little with
every step.
So then I turned my attention back to Uiel. How many members are
there in the Almeir revolution front?
About a hundred, spread out across the whole continent. We have a
few in every important place politically and strategically.
Name all of them.
Uiel sighed and then began to list them off. Jeros, Emy, Relen,
Argelmore........ And so it continued for over an hour.

C and C wanted, flames accepted. Just tell me your reading the fic,
please! I'm dying out here.
Now to Rambling *_*
I originaly never planned this part of the fic to go like this. I
originally thought that they would never find the spy and the revolution
fronts brilliant plan would work But I thought it would be better if
they didn't. And from what I have planned, it will!
Ah yes, and one more thing. This story is an all sround first for
me. First political story, first medieval stye I've posted on the FFML,
first story without magic and first without demons. So tell me if it
blows, I need to know. *_* {Don't you just hate this face?}
