If you're going to have Nabby and Akane set up traps, snares, and hide
like they did, then yes, the terrain should be like that. I'd suggest
against the Appalachians, though. If they were to walk in any single
direction for a day or so, they'd surely find civilization, which is not
what you'd want. I'm not sure about the population density around the
Rockies, but I think that's a better bet. Now, one could also consider
Arizona/New Mexico for low population density, but I'm unsure of the
availability of rugged terrain. Desert in Arizona, certainly, but I'm not
sure what kind of fic you could write in that scenario.

You -could- always do the island close to Japan, too. With the background
you've set up, it could work. It wouldn't have to be an island
exclusively used for hunting, but just someplace abandoned that he drags
the girls. An advantage to this is that you could have different
settings, not just use the one in The Most Dangerous Game. Abandoned
residential areas (ghost island), abandoned factory island, abandoned
mine, jungle, swamp, whatever. There are many little islands all over the
place, but not too many unknown mountains. Making up terrain on an island
is easy.

Unfortunately, Akane happens to share Nabiki's lunch, having lost
the one she made for herself and Ranma.

Alternatively, she -ate- the lunch she prepared for herself and Ranma, and
had to visit the Nurse's office. And the boy's suspicions are roused.

Once the hunt begins, Akane and Nabiki are dropped off in two
separate locations. The two have to find a checkpoint-type thing located
atop a steep mountain as well as each other before the hunters and their
compatriots find them.

So, like a race then? Except that you always have to be in the lead?
Yeah, that could actually work pretty well. And it's for a couple of
days, which means that Nabby and Akane have to find things to eat as well,
unless they were given supplies.

This sounds like a great scenario for a survivalist fic.

If you want to prolong the fic, you could have the two lose any equipment
that they initially started out with. They'd now have to improvise, etc.
Make them lose anything -except- the knife and perhaps some rope.

I would appreciate any feedback you would care to give on this.
Ideas, suggestions, things like that. Thanks!

Akane needs to get shot, sometime on day 3 or so. Not because I think she
deserves to get shot, but because caring for the wounded is certainly a
near fatal liability. Of course Nabby should leave her behind if she
wants to retain any chance of saving herself, but she'd never do a thing
like that. I think it should be Akane who's shot, and not Nabiki herself,
since Akane is probably going to be the one that Nabiki is leaning on.
She's the one who's gone on those training trips with Ranma, after all.

Cornered! Trapped against the ledge, Nabiki quickly glanced down
at her sister's pale face. A cursory examination showed that while she
was still breathing, the exhaustion and loss of blood had taken their
toll. Akane wouldn't be waking up anytime soon.

And that meant facing two expert marksmen with guns. Alone.

"Nabiki," growled the boy, standing in front of his father.

"Toshi." said Nabiki, her voice calm even in this critical moment.

They said nothing more, just looking at one another for a few
seconds. Toshi, with an insufferably smug look on his face, and Nabiki,
still calm, her thoughts still hidden. The father handed his son a Colt
45. Perhaps it was just an old fashioned pistol, and only held seven
shots at the most, but in the situation that Nabiki was in, it wouldn't
take more than one shot to hit her. Two to kill, at the most.

Toshi continued to smile. "Any last words?"

	"Yes. Actually, word. Just one."

And she spoke the last word they'd ever hear.

	"GUYVER!!!"

The sardines weren't worth the trouble. A few more shots, then
Ryoga-san would overheat and explode. Ducking around a corner,
I managed to lose him as I entered the ramshackle residence of
my Anime supplier.

One look at his face and I knew that I was betrayed. "Tell me."
I insisted. He refused, so I slammed him against the wall.
"Last chance. Where can Ranma-Ranma find good fanfics?"
"Try Jason Liao." he whispered, before he slumped to the floor.
I heard the sounds of a door splintering as I left through the
window, one step ahead of Tendo Heavy Industries...
