Well...yes.  I mean, I've seen fics where Akane's been cursed to be a
man, Ranma, various animals, minature, etc.  But I have never read one
where she's cursed to be Akane.  It's so fundamentally simple that I
thught that -someone- must have thought of it...

Nope, people are too stupid when it comes to fundamentally simple. As humans
we must make things more complicated than we have  to :P

Well you could have written Kodachi's scene with the Jusenkyo guide... and
you could have gone into more detail about how the marraige happened, what
the duo felt about it and such.

Oh, that's quite true, and I briefly considered doing that.  But then I'd
have to flesh Kodachi out a little more, and I wasn't attempting to use
her as a villan, but more as a carrier.  In other words, she's more of an
excuse for an event than a person.  Sure, I could have focused more on
Kodachi, but I felt that would mitigate such a simple impact I was trying
to make, unless I also spent time building reader interest in some
fashion.  Possible, but I thought it would be overkill (though the
occasional overkill fic is fun too). 

The marriage was merely an excuse as well.  I focused upon it, to show why
Akane was overpowered with putting up as much of a fight as she normally
does and to show Kodachi's motive. Again, I could have focused on this to
develop the characters, but keep in mind that it's not a Ranma and Akane
fic.  It's an Akane gets splashed fic.

	I see where you're coming from, but this is how I constructed
this. 

	First, I was thinking about different curses, and somehow or
other, came up with the concept of Akane getting hit with the
Akanenichuan.  How would this happen?  Well, Akane's not likely to play at
Jusenko any longer, so someone must bring Jusenko water to her.  Why would
they do this?  Well, they must dislike her enough to curse her.  The who
isn't a problem, since the other fiancees are perfectly suited for this.
It has to be something very big to sent off their dislike enough for them
to afflict her in this fashion, and to go through the effort of doing so.
Thus, the marriage.  And since the Akanenichuan was formed in the Saffron
story, a marriage would also fit properly in the timeframe.

	Or at least, that's it simplified.

	So, as you can see, what I've done here is take an event that I
want to happen, and turn other events around so that particular becomes
plausible (even if it itself is inherently implausible).  The construction
of this fic was completely event centered.  By contrast, what you're
proposing is something that centers on the characters, and allows the
generation of events through character interactions.  It's a perfectly
sound method; it just wasn't the way I happened to concieve this fic. 

Oh and I think Ranma should have been around
just to laugh at Akane :P

Actually, I was thinking of adding a bit in the notes section where Ranma
comes home to find his wife tied to the bed, and in a wet T-shirt.  But I
decided that a it would distract from the impact I wished to achieve.  I
also don't write lemons. 

It's an interesting idea. Not quite bizzare
enough
for me, but oh well :P

I've had this .sig for a year, and I'm -still- trying to think of a good
way to develop a good Ranma-Nuku fusion.  I actually have a loose idea for
a Nuku Nuku-T2 fusion, but it's on the back burner.  Still need to figure
out how to deal with the Akiko character types, and whether I can avoid
killing off Kyusaku.  And the Cyberdyne scene, when Nuku Nuku's the older
model (T-400?  800?), but Eimi's the one with the minigun.  etc.

The sardines weren't worth the trouble.  A few more shots, then 
Ryoga-san would overheat and explode.  Ducking around a corner, 
I managed to lose him as I entered the ramshackle residence of 
my Anime supplier.

One look at his face and I knew that I was betrayed.  "Tell me."
I insisted.  He refused, so I slammed him against the wall.
