Well...yes.  I mean, I've seen fics where Akane's been cursed to be a
man, Ranma, various animals, miniature, etc.  But I have never read one
where she's cursed to be Akane.  It's so fundamentally simple that I
thought that -someone- must have thought of it...

But... then who drowned in the spring originally?  Akane?
Other-dimensional Akane?  Future Akane?  If you think about it too much,
it starts to get uber-weird.

	Actually, Joanne, Akane WAS the person who drowned in the Spring.
A person need not DIE when they drown - all that's required is that 
their lungs fill with water at least once. *poof*, and you are now
officially drowned.

	Akane went under, drowned, and was given artificial respiration,
and recovered. But that was enough to make a Spring of the Drowned Akane.

	Neat trick, no? So there you have it.
