Not quite. He is -almost- totally blown away
because he HAS NO GUN.

There
is also no reason the 'Hunter' can not even the odds
by removing an advantage. A drug that block the
ability to access chi blasts for instance.
A drug that messes with Chi to that great of an extent? Then Ranma has
just died, or has life threatening health compliations. That's just how
Chi is reported to work. As I said, Ranma is really a -bad- choice for
the tone of the story.
And the
goalfor the 'prey' is the antidote. And while I have
great respect for traditional weapons, and experienced
hunter with a .300 mag & 10X scope with Thermal
Imaging has an advantage at long range.
Given. But if I recall correctly, the original island had much vegitation
and such. Granted, Jed could decide to do things differently, but then I
don't really see how he's going to have much of a conflict, since it would
be a simple chase down, or an effort of the moment to snipe. Unless it's
a comedy.
I have a great deal of admiration for the Ranma cast.
BUT:
1) How far can they swim? Before hypothermia sets in?
Before they are exhausted, dehydrated, starve?
Assuming they can navigate for long distances in the
ocean w/o instruments.
Ranma and Genma swam to and from China. It's assumed that before Shampoo
obtained her curse, she entered Japan the same way. Now, one might
situate the island in the middle of nowhere, but then the little issues of
food supply, and availability of humans to drop in are exascerbated to the
point where it becomes too unrealistic.
2)Salt water Croc's. ^_^ Will eat small pigs, cats and
girls.
pigs and cats, yes. But again, I refer you to the story where Kodachi
makes her enterance. Ranma sucessfully deals with a -huge- clock eater
there.
3)land mines, concertina wire, etc. would make a nice
barrier. Ranma is good. NO one is that good forever.
True. But Ranma would try anyway. ^_^
4) for a change of pace, to �make' them play the game,
take hostages. Ranma's mother for Ranma. Or Ranma for
Akane. Or Akane for Ranma/Ryouga/Kuno.
That would work excellently. You'd have to drastically change the
situation from the original story (the guy is no longer a sportsman. He's
a kidnapper), but yes, I could see that as proper motivation. That even
solves the problem of Ranma just rushing in heedless of his own life,
because it wouldn't be 'his own life'.
I mean, sure you can drop a brick wall on Ryoga in
the manga, but that's
all in the name of comedy, anyway.
Wait. You don't plan on using the manga characters?
Well, the anime is
even worse in exaggerating. So do you think he
ought to use that? No?
Then how the heck is this a Ranma fanfic? Romance
certainly has no place
in a fic like this, comedic or otherwise.
##Why not? The author could make it a romantic comedy
if he wishes. For instance the hunters could be the
'fiances'. The 'prey' could be Ranma or any of the
'boys' or ALL of them. ^_^
You could, though that would no longer be in the flavour of The Most
Dangerous Game. And since that's Jed's main concept, I don't think it
could happen. I think what you're looking for is (called interestingly
enough) The Game, by Tron. And while it's an interesting concept, I can
safely state that flavor of the fic is nowhere close to The Most Dangerous
Game.
Or heck! That'd be one neat spamfic to see, with Genma being 'hunted' by
the mysterious man in Nerima...and it end up to be Ukyou's entrance story!
I'd pen a five minute spamfic like I've been doing all day, but someone's
waiting for me to finish my mail right now...
I do think this is a great idea, and I
hope someone decides to do it. But remember,
don't forget the evil hunting
hounds!

The sardines weren't worth the trouble. A few more shots, then
Ryoga-san would overheat and explode. Ducking around a corner,
I managed to lose him as I entered the ramshackle residence of
my Anime supplier.
One look at his face and I knew that I was betrayed. "Tell me."
I insisted. He refused, so I slammed him against the wall.
"Last chance. Where can Ranma-Ranma find good fanfics?"
"Try Jason Liao." he whispered, before he slumped to the floor.
I heard the sounds of a door splintering as I left through the
window, one step ahead of Tendo Heavy Industries...
