BOOK ONE: A SECRET AGENDA
CHAPTER ONE:
THE NEW SHINRA
Mirov stood glaring out the vista window of his office. His stipe of
long brown hair hanging down his neck, and his hands clasped behind his back,
clinching his otherwise perfect brown business suit. Glaring coldly past his
spikey bangs which were so carelessly flopped over his face, it would seem to
anyone observing that he was attempting to stare down the insolent chemical
fires that burnt atop Junons shore waters this night, as if he hated the very
element for burning against his wishes. He watched the fire squad's futile
attempts to put a stop to it, but this kind of fire would not be extinguished
easily, he knew.
<Rather like me in that regard.> He thought and smiled slightly.
Something he allowed himself only very rarely.
But the squad was able, and had dealt with this sort of thing before,
namely the oil-spill a year back, and he was confident they would get the job
done, and done efficiently.
<And that is because they are Shinra men. And efficiency, is what
Shinra does>...He mused
He stared on like that for sometime before a knock came at his office
door, the same office, in fact, that Rufus had occupied during the weapon
raid about two years ago.
"Enter." Mirov stated coldly, he had little use for formalitys, and
so never used such antiquated nonsense. If a single word was all it took to
say something, then a single word was all that would pass Mirovs lips. That
was just the kind of man he was...
The door opened and a person stepped in.
"Sir?" It asked in a deep, but whiny voice.
Mirov didn't bother turning around... He didn't need to, he was
perfectly aware of who it was since he first heard the knock on the door.
"Mr.Noreni-"He uttered, his voice unwavering." Your report?"
"Yessir." His aide, the lanky, raven-black haired Tev Noreni stepped
to withen three feet of him then halted.
"The fires withen the reactor have been quenched, and a damage report
has been made."
Mr.Noreni paused, scatching his goatee. Checking for a reaction from
the new Shinra president. Nothing, not that he truly expected anything
drastic out of so cold a man.
"Go on." The president urged, though no urgency was present when he
spoke. Such things often had a hard time finding thier way into the mans
demeanor.
Tev Noreni took a deep breath and continued."All the piping remains
intact, though all the cooling and chemical systems are shot, the computers
are all fried. Basically, everything besides the framework, piping, and the
accessways, are completely unsalvagable. They say that, looking at it from
the outside, you can barely tell there's something wrong with it, save the
burst pipes that caused the chemical fires visable on the waters surface."
Noreni held his breath, hoping the former Shinra captain would take
this well, though he couldn't see how he could.
Mirov stood stalk still for a while, and Noreni began to sweat.
Finally, Mirov just nodded gravely.
"I expected just about as much." He replied cooly.
Tev Noreni's jaw just about dropped open, though after three months
of working with the man, he should have expected such a response.
"But doesn't that destroy your plans?" He spouted.
Mirov chuckled softly.
"No, friend. It is but a temporary setback. It will be costly, but I
guarentee you the mako reactor will be up and running again, though it may
take longer than I anticipated." He paused."Once you work with me long enough
you'll understand, Once I've begun something, it WILL be finished. We've only
begun here, but already it's too late to stop what I've set in motion..."
<How cryptic.>Noreni thought.<And creepy.>
"Is that all?" The president asked.
"Yessir." Noreni answered, hoping to be dismissed.
"What about the Turks?" He asked.
Noreni nodded energetically."They were publically congratulated,
paid, and promptly left afterwords."
"What about my offer?" Mirov reminded the aide.
Noreni scratched his beard nervously and paused."Well, they said they
don't wish to work for any form of the Shinra corporation ever again..."
The president sighed and said."I expected about as much. Too bad
though. They were so very efficient, we could've gotten along very well."
Tev doubted that anyone could get along very well with Mirov, but
refrained from saying as much, and simply nodded.
"Will that be all sir?" He asked.
Another long pause... The president sighed.
"Yes, you're dismissed."
Noreni gave a silent thanks and left promptly the way he came.
Mirov sighed once again and finally turned from the window, and sat
at his lavish desk. He turned on the computer and opened the mail program.
His fingers played across the keyboard as he ordered the construction of some
new equipment, and a salvage operation to one of the old Midgar reactors.
<The reactor WILL be operational again.> He thought.

...............................................
Deep withen the worlds core, a dark presence awakened. A malignant
streak of red in the otherwise pure lifestream. With it's newly recovered
senses, it scanned the world inside of which it was inprisoned. It was
nearly the time it knew, though no outside sources indicated it, it felt the
wheels of fate already turning in thier predestined directions, directions
that would lead it from it's wretched state, and back into a physical form
with which it could ravage the world for what it had done to it.
<No.>It thought.<It will not be long now...>
Once again it closed off it's senses to the outside world and slept,
slowly accumulating power from the lifestream for it's return.
<...It will not be long at all...>
Hey, you stuck with me through that boring drival! Thanks! Honestly though,
