Sorry to bother the list, I'll keep this brief.

        It's close to graduation, and Nabiki is rather stoked, for lack of
several better terms. She is preparing to put in applications to colleges
and universities all over Tokyo, and is busy preparing for her finals.

        Cut to graduation night. Nabiki attends a party being held by some
of the senior class to celebrate their successful conclusion of high school.
Nabiki decides that imbibing a few drinks couldn't hurt, and does just that.
The hour grows late, and Nabiki wants to go home.
        She gets a ride with a friend of hers, whose parents let her borrow
the car for the night. Note, her parents are total tight-asses. Since
Nabiki's senses are dulled, she doesn't notice that her friend has had a few
herself...

        During the drive home (the party is in Downtown Tokyo), Nabiki's
friend gets distracted by a combination talking and the booze and runs a red
light. The car runs right into another car entering the intersection from
another street, which causes a four car accident.

        Nabiki's friend is killed instantly, and Nabiki is left disabled. As
for what exactly, I haven't decided. 

        A) She's in a wheelchair, with a small chance to regain some use of
her legs over time

        B) She is rendered blind (either permanently or temporarily)

        C) She is rendered a quadraplegic. OR

        D) Nabiki is killed as well as her friend, and the rest of the
family is left to deal with it.

        As I've said, this is just an idea that occurred to me a few days
ago, and I thought I'd out it out and see if anyone thought I should
continue it, or if they had any suggestions.
