The fiction is basically a big behind-the-scenes story
about the production of the show, the problems the
characters have with the script, outtakes, ETC.
It's been done. It's called (sur)Real World, by RpM.
Something you may have missed, Lurker, is that MTV's Real World is
NOT the only show this idea would work for... nor is that fic what was
described here, IMO.
For example, it could be Star Trek (although I've seen that
attempted WAY too many times). Or Xena. Or The Brady Bunch (shudder). And
the idea is NOT about the show itself, but about the PRODUCTION of the show.
Unless, of course, I'm interpreting this all wrong.
I like this idea, personally. I've always enjoyed 'outtakes' of
fics, for one, but the rest of it works as well. It's hardly an original
idea, I'll grant, but I'd still like to see someone do it. The (sur)Real
World is NOT this sort of fic; it's not about the production (although some
scenes do cover parts of it) and it's not the sort of show this could apply
to - at least, not easily.
What this idea seems to boil down to is this: it would be a fic
about fictional characters producing a fictional show.
<blink blink>
Wow. I just said that...
