I had the same problem with this story that David seems to have had. It
directly contradicts things that we know about Nabiki from the original
series. Look at the date she goes on in Volume 29 part 9, for example.

Now, to be fair although I know what happened in that story, it's not unlikely
that the author of the fanfic in question doesn't.  Still...my problem with 
the story is that there is nothing special about our hero that would make him
anything more than another sap in Nabiki's eyes.  He isn't particularly witty,
rich, good-looking, charming or smart.  She might as well be dating Hiroshi.  
On the whole, even based on the stuff we have in official translation, it would
take a pretty special guy to get under Nabiki's skin.
