Everything from yesterday seems like a dream.  None of it could have
happened.  I yawn as I stretch and slowly climb out of bed.  Those covers
seem so warm and inviting...but I need to get to work.  I'm glad I work
from home at times like this.

My stomach's rumbling, I guess I'll take care of breakfast first.  Target,
fridge, autonavigation engaged.

Target reached.  Opening the door...Hmmm...leftover spaghetti from last
night.  Grab it, and proceed to microwave.  Insert food...insert...in...

Open microwave first.  _now_ insert food.  There, MUCH better.  Turn on for
a minute or three, then off to the bathroom.

Fill sink, check.  Insert face into water, check.  Back up so we can
breathe, check.  Alertness factor...a hundred times better.  yes!

Viewing face in mirror...hmm.  that's different.  I don't think I put
makeup on last night.  Grabbing my facecloth and trying to wipe it off.
Hmm...it's not working.  Still scrubbing...

Nope, still not coming off.  Oh, well.  Ignore it and finish tasks.  Clean
face....now my shower.

Turn on the water...step in OOOH that's cold!  Warm water warm
water....ahhh...much better.  There, I'm completely awake.  Strange that
I'd get those marks on my face after that dream.

Proceeding to kitchen.  Hmmm...the microwave is still open. Arrrgh!  Close
the microwave and press start again.  There it goes.  I'll grab some milk
while I'm waiting.

*shivver*  What was that?  It feels like a cold wind on my back.

The microwave...it's not making any noise.  It's not moving.

This is starting to scare me...

Wait...I do hear a noise.  It's like a faint...buzzing.  coming from
my...right ear.  Face right...now it's in front of me.  the living room?

Walk in there.  And...there's the book.  Sitting on the coffee table.

"It wasn't a dream..." I whisper.  In answer, the book opens in front of me...

"Chapter 2: Getting to know yourself (Thank you for coming back today...we
were worried about you)

Some time withing the near future, you will begin seeing things
differently.  Things like the little air spirits wandering around your room
right now or some of your personal...servents would come close.  (So would
friends :)

Shortly after you begin seeing these, we will help you learn your new talents.

Also, as a rule, most gods and goddesses are required to learn some form of
self defence.  Not all of the creatures out there are nice and benevolent."

Something occurs to me, "Wait a minute, why are you hiring me?"
<Umm...that's not for you to know at this point.  Maybe later after you've
been taught some more.>

Well, given the problem that I couldn't get this thing any farther than
this for 5 days means that this section is done.  I'll try for longer next
chapter...but no promises here.
