Maybe a spell connected with the Incan/Mayan/ whatever god, Anasazi?
(Think I got the name right.) I think he was connected with >spiders...
Anasazi is Navaho for "Ancient Enemies"--it's used to designate a
culture or group of cultures dwelling in pre-Columbian Southwestern US, most
probably ancestral to present-day Pueblo peoples. I think the fellow you
want is Anansi, a figure in West African folklore. In some Afro-Caribbean
cultures they call him A-Nancy.
He is described as a spider, or a spider-like man, but I wouldn't write
anything about spells relating to him without doing some serious research
beforehand. Most of the stuff I've seen about him has been folktales of one
sort or another (mostly either "just-so" stories or trickster tales). I've
never seen him described as a god or referred to as a source of magical
power, either in Africa or the Caribbean. Anyone who knows those regions
better than I care to comment?
I have this vague memory of one of the loa (Voudou deities) having
something to do with spiders, but I can't remember which one.
My tuppence,
Andrew
