I dunno. I heard "toy". Matisse/Surge is a bit of a chauvanist, as seen

from

his greeting.( "Welcome to Vermillion Gym!" *hugs Kasumi/Misty*) He's
showing the generally held belief in the Pokemon world that Pikachu are

weak

and are only good against weak creatures and as pets. (See "School of Hard
Knocks") Of course, Satoshi/Ash has used it so many times that it's level

is

probably very high, and is definitely more than just a useless toy.

Hmmm ... I went to watch it again and stuck my ear on the telly, and yeah it
could've been toy although it also sounded like boy... but then he says
something about toys afterward so I'm probably just brain-fried from too
much studying.

Oh, well, it's still my belief that Pikachu is a boy, so I'll just leave it
like that in my fanfic. Because every pokemon has a gender even if it's
called "it" (see Pokemon Gold/Silver in that the types you catch all have a
gender now, as well as day/night attributes).

Argh, I think I'll stop wondering about this, I've got a head-ache.
