Let's face it.  Ranma is basically a romantic martial arts sex comedy.

Martial arts means fighting.  Fighting means violence, and
I suppose that counts as "abuse" in your book.

What about CAREFUL DESTINY?  It's a Ranma fanfic where the characters ARE
largely in character, and Ranma, who has gotten an opportunity to remake
his relationships in Nerima.  There's been none of the hammerspace stunts
of a lot of fanfics, and there's still a lot of conflict.  

But if you 
want a story without conflict, you don't want a story at all.
There is no plot without conflict of some sort.  I guess 
you need to define what you don't want.

I heard that before Star Trek, the Degeneration  [Whoops.  Most people call
it Next Generation]  went on the air, Roddenberry himself, (who, it must be
admitted, had suffered some strokes by this point) had said that there was
to be no conflict, no character growth, so that people wouldn't get
confused if they missed some episodes.   

Without character growth in a series, it seems to me that you might as well
be watching remakes of THE LOVE BOAT.  [Whoops. I forgot, they're doing
THAT, too!]  Or maybe Babewatch...  I meant BAYWATCH!

Well, I hope people enjoy reading/writing/critiquing the fics they've got

Basically, episodic shows with LOTS of guest stars who never come back, or
some eye-candy sex-appeal show that serves as a vehicle for playmates to
try to make the transition into acting.  I'm enough of a pig to
occasionally watch Baywatch with the sound off, but not enoufh of a
masochist to either turn up the sound or tune in to the New Love Boat.
Some things are just OUTSIDE my limits.
