Ritual Disclaimer: Omission of a fic implies nothing
concerning my opinion of it. I do not limit my reviews
to Ranma fics.
Ah the season has come to whine about Ranma fics. It
doesn't matter that non-Ranma traffic is at an all time
high (well, at least since I joined the list), apparently
people will continue to complain about it as long as
Ranma is still the most common. Me, I'd rather whine about
Dragonball fics. There are definitely too many
Dragonball fics. You wanna know why? Because I don't
like it, and my preferences are the only things that
matter! Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha! What are you looking at?

Description: Another fight in an ongoing battle against

Comments: Given that this series has been going on for
quite a while, a paragraph or two bringing the readers up
to speed would be a good idea. The Gosunkugi scene seems
like a pointless intrusion. He's gone. Let it go.
Strand's terrible grin transformed into a screaming smile, a smile
one would find if a burned body were found still alive and well. He
I don't find that metaphor terribly effective.

thoughts of Shampoo's well being surfaced.
"Wellbeing" is one word.

some of them would be angry over being abducted. Also
Ryoga should probably move around a little before he gets
lost.

Description: People with guns take over Furinkan.
Comments: It isn't particularly plausible that Hinako
would do anything except start zapping when faced with
intruders with guns. With one sweep of her arm, the
situation would be under control. It is similarly
implausible that shooting Kuno and failing to kill him
would lead to anything except being knocked unconscious
or killed on the part of the gun man. It is totally
implausible that some randomly disgruntled kid from Japan
would be so good that he could shoot a bokken in half.
However, the first person POV is better, particularly for
a present tense format.

[FFML] [Fanfic][R1/2] Ranma Monogatari Part 7
Date:
Fri, 18 Jun 1999 17:08:03 -0700
From:
Jamie and Bridget Wilde <wildeman@psn.net>
Description: Ranma finds himself in the body of a Heian
era nobleman trying to figure out which of his very
familiar girlfriends is killing his Akane-like wife.
Fusion with part of "The Tale of Genji".
Comments: OK, so why does the Ranma of this world visit
the Reikeiden lady if she isn't his mistress? Frankly,
I'm a little disappointed that "Ranma Monogatari" turns
out to be almost as virginal as "Ranma Transexual Jock".
The cat-psychosis was of course well written, although I'd
expect Ranma to go neko from fighting the fear that hard.

Description: "Roberto" from the Rival Schools video game
schemes to stop the constant quarreling of his two
partners.
Comments: Really it's a Rival Schools fic. The Pokemon
could be replaced by any present. Breaking the fourth
wall should only be done when it's going to be really funny.
In this case it isn't, particularly. Still, this is a
sound fic with a good conclusion. Perhaps worthy of some
expansion. There are some minor spelling errors.
Roberto knew he pain of being hit by the bat as Shoma accidentally hit him
during one of his brawls at school. "Ok, I confess it was I. But I did it for
"the" That sentence is rather clumsy. Perhaps something
like "Robert knew how much that bat would hurt him. He'd
been accidentally hit by it before, during one of Shoma's
brawls at school." would work better.

Comments: OK, at least he didn't come in as an exchange
student or Sailor Dirt. I trust that Sailor Moon is due
for a power upgrade in the near future. Given that Usagi
is drawn with blonde hair and blue eyes, it seems absurd to
mention his foreign ancestry in relation to his pale
skin and blue eyes. If the author is assuming that Usagi
looks like an ordinary Japanese girl when not transformed,
an idea I find rather appealing, then he should probably
mention it.

Comments: Wait a second. This is her seventeenth birthday.
She was sixteen when Ranma arrived. How can he remember
a date he never knew? That's not even getting the issue
of whether Ranma is aware that birthdays are celebrated,
since I doubt he's had a birthday party or a present since
he first went out on the road and he can't remember before
then.

[FFML] Japanese Pokemon Names

Description: List of the original Japanese names for people in Pokemon.
Comments: Looks like it could be a useful resource. The author should
probably find a web page to host it.
I would like to leave you with one last thought. The
original complainer about lack of C&C wasn't _writing_
a Ranma fic. "Too many Ranma fics" is not a good reason
why someone would decline to comment on the non-Ranma
fics.
