At last the true horror of dating Tatewaki Kuno is revealed. I don't
think this aspect has ever been explored in Ranma fanfiction. Too many
people I think would tend to have him trying to manuever his date into
bed, forgetting that Tatewaki's first true love is himself.
Yeah. And he actually DID date with the Pig-Tailed Girl once, and didn't
make any of those moves on her.
You're talking about the Wishbringer story, right? Ranma went out with
Kuno hoping to steal the sword that granted wishes; when he finds out that only
Kuno can make the wish, he tries to trick Kuno into making a wish that would
remove his curse. Here is an extremely simplified version of what happened:
1. Akane imagines an "R" rated scene in which Kuno drugs Ranma and takes
advantage of the situation.
2. Kuno shows up at an ungodly hour of the morning, taking Ranma out to view
the sunrise at the beach.
3. Akane follows them to "protect" Ranma, Genma follows to try and steal the
sword for himself.
4. Ranma pretends to trip while on the beach. She then hugs Kuno as he tries
to help her up; Ranma was actually grabbing for the sword. Kuno pushes her
away, saying a lady shouldn't be so forward.
5. Kuno then asks Ranma to read his diary, saying that shared intimacies will
make them grow closer.
6. Kuno brings out a lunch he prepared, and Ranma (who got the idea from
Akane's fear in line #1) sprinkles knock-out powder on a rice ball. Kuno picks
up the rice ball, but feeds it to Ranma instead of eating it himself. Ranma
falls asleep.
7. Kuno, thinking Ranma is taking a nap, tries to steal a kiss. He is foiled
by Akane whacking him on the back of his head with a huge mallet. She then
pours the iced drink from the picnic on Ranma to wake her up. Genma uses the
confusion to steal the sword.
8. Genma tries to wish himself free of his panda curse. This is when they
find out only Kuno can make a wish.
9. Ranma takes the sword back to Kuno, and the date continues as Kuno
repeatedly starts to make frivolous wishes and Ranma stops him.
10. Ranma asks Kuno to help her with a "problem" with her body. Kuno starts to
wish she had bigger breasts. Ranma stops him.
11. They go to a restaurant for a more formal lunch. Ranma pours on the sex
appeal, trying to get Kuno to promise the last wish to her. She promises
she'll do "anything" if he does; much chaos erupts when both Akane and Genma
break in on the scene.
12. Kuno later tries to take advantage of Ranma's promise to get a kiss. Ranma
loses her nerve at the last moment and gives up on getting the wish.
13. Kuno tells Ranma that he had always intended to use the last wish for her,
and Ranma starts thinking that maybe she had Kuno all wrong.
14. Kuno uses the last wish to create a commemorative statue of their first
date. Close chapter on Ranma, back in male form at the Tendo home, crying and
screaming "no" as Kasumi admires the statue.
While it is true that Kuno didn't try anything more than to get kisses, he
did that twice, so it is not true that he never made any moves on Ranma. (It
is true that Ranma's moves on Kuno were more provocative.) Interestingly
enough, Kuno did NOT talk about himself very much; he just tried to get Ranma
to read his diary.
