And besides, remember that what you lack in brawn you gain incredibly in
brain and friendship (i.e. other people's brawn).  Why kill Naoko (the
poor babe) when you have several other henchmen to do it.

You're right.  Gendo is a dick.  And Mr. Anno is also a dick for
creating such a dick.  What happened to his energy that went into his
good shows? (Nadia and Gunbuster)  He said that he didn't want to make
mindless cartoons.  But the gap between mindless cartooning and "pissing
people off" is pretty wide.
