I wrote this short piece after being very disappointed in the end of
the second Magic Knight Rayearth TV series. This is how I believe it
should have ended. I know my mother agrees with me on this if no one
else does, at least in general.

Magic Knight Rayearth 2 : The Way It Should Be

Three figures stood in the Tokyo Tower, staring at the images of
Cefiro that only they could see.

Hikaru's eyes were fiercely determined when she looked directly into
Umi and Fuu's eyes.

"Everyone," Hikaru said, "let's go back, back to Cefiro."

   *Ferio* Fuu thought, and nodded.

*Clef* Umi thought, reaching out to him with her heart.

*Lantis* Hikaru thought longingly, and took her friends hands in her
own. Closing her eyes she concentrated. In a few short moments they
became enveloped in a globe of white light. Rising up slightly it shot
out of the tower, and was gone.

***

Two men met just outside a door, One tall, with black hair, dark
skin, and deep mellow eyes. The other a bit shorter, with green hair and
a scar across his nose, vibrant with energy.

"Lantis," the green haired one greeted.

   "Ferio," the other responded.

As one they turned and entered the room they'd met outside of. Waiting
for them was a man in a long flowing robe, much shorter than them, with
lavender hair, and carrying a staff half again as tall as he was, Doushi
Clef.

"What did you call us for Doushi?" asked Lantis quietly.

Excitement flickered briefly in Clef's eyes as he pointed behind
them. Ferio and Lantis both turned quickly to behold the sphere of
light heading their way, and what they saw....

It zoomed to the middle of the room, and set down gently. Immediately
after it disappeared, three running figures made a beeline for their
targets.

Umi was first, as she ran to Clef, he did a most unusual thing, and
set down his staff. He somehow managed to stay upright when Umi crashed
into him, both of them crying for all they were worth. "I missed you,"
they said simultaneously.

Fuu slowed as she came near Ferio, but didn't stop when she saw him
reach out to her. He enfolded her in a tight embrace, no words being
said, nor needed.

Hikaru was by far the most vocal, shouting, "LANTIS!" throwing
herself into his arms. He looked down at her and quietly said her name,
"Hikaru," embracing her gently.

And so what had been delayed by a year was finally as it should be,
love brought them to those they desired. For isn't that the way of
Cefiro? Will, and heart, conquered all.

And so began a story of friendship, life, and ... love. Many
surprises awaited them, the first of which was a young man waiting just
outside the room, Eagle.
