This thing has been bothering me ever since I finished watching the
entire series -except the movie- of Neon Genesis Evangelion, although
other fanfics had already informed me of this.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT GENDO AND WOMEN!? To me, Gendo is a total dick! It's
a bit cloudy on how he was before his wife died, but I do know that
after he turned into someone who is completely inconsiderite of others
feelings or lives and just cares getting this save the world thing
over! So answer me this, why do older women like him so much?! I
can't see what completely sensible people like Ritsuko's mom and
herself would see in Gendo! Was it that surprising to them when
they found out Gendo didn't give a sh*t about them? And I also think
that Yui deserved a hellavu lot better guy than him!

It's like that thing in Final Fantasy 7 with that thing with Hojo and
Lucrecia women! What would a sweet women like Lucrecia see in a total
dick like Hojo?!
