A Rose For You
A very much overdue Valentine Day fanfic
By Sera-chan

Kurama sighed as he gazed out of his bedroom window.
It was Valentines Day- per usual, hed the pre-
and-post-Valentine flood of cards, love letters, flowers, chocolates, and
toys (whoever thought THAT up?).
They had come from everybody- EVERYBODY- except the
one he loved.
"Arisa" He picked up the drawing of the girls
youko form. His eyes stung. Three years. Three years
since shed left him with Hiei
"Otousama?" his little daughter poked her head into
the room.
Oddly, shed never been bothered by flashing lights, crashing noises and
the like must have been her unusual
heritage Kurama resolutely put that thought out of his
mind and went over to his three-year-old child, scooping
her up in a hug. "Hai, himechan?"
"Otousama, how come Hiei-otousama didnt eat his
food today?" she asked, sucking her thumb thoughtfully.
"Its pouring water outside, too I thought Hiei-otousama
doesnt like water"
Kuso! Kurama winced. Hed forgotten that. Hiei was a
fire youkai "Its alright, Sayuri-himechan Hiei-otousama
is just out doing something."
"Oh?" The pink mouth twisted in thought for exactly
five seconds And then broke into a full smile. "Okay then!
Im gonna go tell Kiki about Hiei-otousama!" She wriggled
out of his arms, dropped to the floor in a disorganized
heap of arms and legs, and then rushed out of the room
to confide to the kitsune-doll - a white one, in memory
of his youko father Kabato- Kurama had given her for her
second birthday.
Kurama, though, went back to his brooding
contemplation of the storm. HieiHiei. The little koorime-
imigo whod stolen his heart away and had no idea at all he
was doing so.
Okay, he DID have some idea he was doing so
The redheaded (at the moment) ningen sighed, scowled uncharacteristically,
checked himself, and settled for a
quick huff of breath. He was sighing way too frequently
gonna get gastric if he kept doing that
Shiroi-okufuro was out with his father Shuiichi
had a date with his newest crush that left him and Sayuri-
chan. Hiei was out doing goodness-knew-what in the
torrential rain maybe in the Makai running an errand for
Mukuro.
It was the last day of Valentine, and Hiei hadnt
been home not for the last two days. It was worrisome but
Kurama knew better than to imagine that Hiei had a mistress.
Just then, the wind rattled the windows fiercely, and something thudded
unpleasantly into the glass panes.
Without sparing a thought for his books or his table,
Kurama instantly opened the windows, reached out into the
chilly, humid night and dragged a waterlogged Hiei into his
room.
The youkai was in a sorry state- hair drenched to
the roots and nearly plastered flat to his skull for once,
eyes watering (all three of them), and with his clothes
heavy and dragging themselves off his slight frame. The
deep voice was shooting off a string of the dirtiest curses
on the faces of the three worlds. Kurama fought the urge to
hug the wet bundle and start chortling.
The situation struck him as enormously funny that
is, until he noticed the water soaking into his carpet.
The half-youko went from kneeling to standing in one
smooth movement - right until he tripped over Hieis wet cloak.
"Hn." Hiei scowled fiercely at him, reaching into a
inner pocket.
Kurama opened his mouth to voice a reproach, then
clamped his mouth shut as the diminutive youkai thrust a
small bunch of silver blooms in his direction. "Hiei,
what-"
"I got Mukuro to breed them for me," was the gruff
reply. "They arent going to fade."
Silver silver the color of Kuramas kitsune fur
Kurama abandoned the thought of a warm bath. To
Makai hell with the wet carpet, it could wait.

Sayuri stood just outside of her otousamas room,
Kiki cradled in her arms.
"I didnt know there were silver roses before," she
told the white stuffed toy before she wandered off to see
if there was anything worth playing with in the kitchen.

_____________

Thought you couldn't get his hair to lie down?
Think again. ^_^X

C&C&C always welcomed, and here's the glossary if anyone
wants it...

youko: demon fox, a Japanese legendary demon
otousama: father (formal)
himechan: (informal) an affectionate way of saying 'princess', usually used
within the family
kuso: (curse word) roughly equivalent to 'damn!'
kitsune: fox
okufuro: another term for 'mother'
Makai: the Demon plane

I think I got all of them.
Ja mata for now!
