Standard AltUniv complaint #1 here: This story is showing too much stuff
that's pretty much the same as in the original series, and not enough
that's different. We're kinda told that some of the stuff in the
background is different -- Ranma's mom is around, and he has a sister --
but just about everything that's actually *shown* is the same, or close
to the same. (Ranma does meet Akane in the usual way, but it doesn't
seem to make much difference for the storyline.)

My suggestion would be to shorten or cut the scenes we don't need
(because we've read them in the manga) and show us the important
differences in your continuity. Show us Ranma interacting with his
mother and sister, so we get an idea of what different difficulties
they're going to cause for him.
