In addition to ELL's very good reason not to flood post, I'd like to offer
one additional reason: some people have small mailboxes. It's bad enough
for these unfortunates when limited spam wars erupt, and they find that
they have to clean out their mailboxes every three to six hours just to
keep up, and the messages are only (on average) two to three K. (It ain't
so bad these days; thanx, Tybalt.)

Fics, on the other hand, are substantially larger. Now, this isn't so bad
if only two or three people do this a day, and if their fics are of
moderate size (total: <100K each). However, I've seen flood-posts get up to
HALF A MEGABYTE! This is a substantial chunk of _any_ e-mail account. It
was a half of my old account, and an eighth of my present account.

If it happens to be a rather busy day on the FFML, a couple of
flood-reposts could cause a mailbox to explode in a day or less. I once
experienced this event several years ago, and cleaning up after this was a
mess. (This was just from that awful Shampoo-Akane spamwar, ARRGH!
Fortunately, the FFML was young, so the phenomenon of 'reposting' was
completely unknown.) This is not the best way to remind folks of your story.

Keep in mind that not everyone has a Lina Inverse-like ability to swallow
large fics and not get sick. Do yourself and your readers a service and
spread out your repost over a couple of days, just like Lurker said.
