idea that the spirit of the person/animal dround joins as well.

As much as he hates to admit it, I think Lurker's first fic has
the
soul-bonding premise to it, in regards to Ryouga.  I don't
remember what
it's called, =or where one can get a copy though. 

Hmmm....

I think that the one you have in mind is called "Her", and can be
found at the r.a.a.c. ftp site. Only, I think that it had RANMA
getting in tough with his 'feminine' side. This was evidently the
ancestor of "Onna-Red Side".
