Those events could be explained while Ranma's
power level just seems to be where it's at for convenience's
sake. I should note however that the writer told me Genma
did train with Happosai so that kinda negates my entire
argument. So, if Genma trained under Happy who did Soun
and Mr. Hibiki train under?

Maybe all 3 trianed under the same master?
Regardless, it's so easy to come up with a
generic name to serve as the dreaded master
for Tendo and Hibiki. The story already looks
like it's doing away with a lot of continuity,
anyway. Maybe it was Happosai's friend, the
disappearing guy, hehehe.

A lot of this first chapter seemed to be running through
events that happened in the first few eps. This is probably
because the author doesn't want to have to go through
the same old scenes over again, but it would be nice to
not have it be done at a break neck speed.

Indeed. I was glad for the journals, though, since
they took a convenient shortcut so that we wouldn't
have to go through some of those tired old scenes.
