*Why Do I Bother? - Part Two - It Couldn't Be That Easy...*

Unsure of where else to go, Sailor Pluto took the girls to the
Hikawa Jinga.

"Okay, that went well," she brushed off her hands and
detransformed. However, the others did not. Setsuna frowned. Something
seemed vaguely wrong. Quickly, she took stock.

First, Neptune and Uranus. They were huddled in a corner, heads
close together, talking about something in low voices. That was normal.

Next in the turn were Jupiter and Mercury. For some reason,
Mercury seemed terrified, and was clutching Jupiter's arm tight enough
to cut off the circulation. Jupiter had a long suffering look on her
face, and otherwise seemed to be ignoring the girl.

Turn again. Princess Serenity was sitting on the bed, idly
swinging her legs. She was intently studying the TV remote.

Mars and Venus were at the window. They were staring at
something in the yard. They were also giggling up a storm, whispering
back and forth between the two of them.

Directly behind Setsuna was Saturn. Collapsed in a boneless
heap on the floor, her Glaive still in her hand.

<Now that's odd...> Setsuna was just bending over the girl
when..

	Click.

The TV tuned on, showing a music video at high volume.

"Augh!! Demons!" Serenity shrieked, and fell off the bed in
startlement. A swift sequence of events followed.

Mercury fainted. With the same long-suffering look, Jupiter
caught her before she hit the floor.

Venus, surprised by the Princess' scream, fell through the
window.

Mars went directly to the Princess.

Uranus and Neptune combined their powers, and destroyed the TV.
And a couple of walls. And part of the floor.

	Setsuna froze in shock.

				***

Through the now broken window "Hey, you're cute! Wanna sleep
with me?" could be heard. Oddly enough this was followed by a male
scream, a cry of "Venus Love-Me Chains!" and a rather large thud.

Setsuna wandered over to the window, and looked out into the
yard. Sailor Venus was somewhat triumphantly standing over Yuuichiro,
who was trussed up like a Christmas turkey with chains of golden hearts.
She appeared to be giving him a lecture on attempting to escape from
love, as personified by Sailor Venus herself.

"I didn't see that." Setsuna turned her back on the window. She
studiously ignored the yelling behind her. There were dragging noises,
heading towards the bushes, and the yelling abruptly cut off.

Mars glanced wistfully past Setsuna, through the window. "I
wanted to do that," she pouted.

Setsuna sweatdropped. "Either the time trip had a really strange
effect, or..." her eyes flicked around the room.

Saturn unconscious near the door, Serenity staring vaguely into
space, Jupiter boredly patting a still unconscious Mercury on the cheek,
Mars staring wistfully out the window, Venus... ye gods only knew what
Venus was doing right now (though it was probably lemony-fresh), Neptune
and Uranus necking in the corner...

"Or I picked up the wrong senshi." Setsuna sighed heavily. "I
can't deal with this." She rubbed her forehead, "I'm getting a
migraine."

Venus wandered back in, smoothing her mussed hair. "That was
nice. Anybody else want a go?" she offered.

"Thought you'd never ask." Mars was out the window and gone.

Jupiter shrugged indifferently, and dumped Mercury on the bed.
The other girl was still unconscious.

"All of you do what you like." Setsuna leaned down, and draped
Sailor Saturn over her shoulder. "I'll fix this tomorrow." She started
to leave.

"Wait!" Serenity called, "what is going on? Where are we? Why
did you bring us here?"

"Where you are doesn't matter. As far as why, I *thought* you were
my senshi, but obviously I was wrong." She glanced at Venus, "very, *very*
wrong."

	"So, now what?" Jupiter asked.

Setsuna shrugged with one shoulder. "I said, whatever you like.
As for me, I'm going home."

"But why are you taking Saturn?" Venus wanted to know.

"Can't just leave her lying around. I've got a place I can leave
her for tonight."

"Where do we go? What do we do?" Serenity waved her hands
helplessly.

The guardian of time sighed even heavier than before. "Listen.
Since it's on my way, I'll stop by and get those cats to come help you
out, okay?"

"Those cats'? Do you mean Luna and Artemis?" the princess
frowned.

"That's their names. Just try and remember they're not the same
Luna and Artemis that you're thinking of." Setsuna glanced at the bed.
"By the way, what's wrong with Sailor Mercury?"

Jupiter rolled her eyes. "She's always keeling over. Nerves
like dental floss, you know." It was very odd, listening to that refined
British accent come out of the tall girl's mouth.

"Okay... I'm going now." Setsuna turned to go. "Could you try
to pry those two apart," she waved at the couple in the corner, "and
maybe get Mars and Yuuichiro out of the bushes? I'd hate to see the
cats' illusions shattered like that."

The three gave her odd looks, but she ignored them. Hitching
Saturn up to a more comfortable position, she left.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Tomoe!" Ring. Thud. Bang. "Hey, Tomoe!" Bang. Thud.
Ring. "Tomoe, you better answer the door, or I'll blast it right off its
hinges!" Bang. Bang. "Tomoe!!" This had been going on for about ten
minutes now, and Setsuna was getting annoyed.

"What? I was in my lab..." Professor Tomoe trailed off when he
saw who was at the door. "My daughter!"

"This isn't your daughter, Tomoe. She just looks like her,"
Setsuna explained curtly. "I was hoping I could leave her here tonight."

"I suppose. What's wrong with her?" he moved aside to let the
woman with the unconscious senshi over her shoulder in.

"Mental existence failure. She'll be fine as soon as I get her
back to where she came from." <Poor girl's brain is not coping well with
the modern world. I just hope she doesn't wake up and decide everything
needs destroying.>

"Oh. Okay. Just dump her in her room then." Tomoe turned away.
"I'll be in my lab."

Setsuna shook her head, and left the girl in the indicated room.
By the time she got back to the front hall, the Professor was long gone.
She let herself out. "Weird family."

There was a loud explosion, and a whoop, but since the house was
still standing, Setsuna didn't bother to investigate.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Continuing on her way home, Setsuna stopped by Minako's house.

She had to throw pebbles at Minako's bedroom window for several
minutes before Artemis levered up the sill with a little-used textbook.

	"Setsuna? What're you doing here?"

"There's been an accident." Setsuna stopped there, just to see
the horror that crossed the cat's face. After pausing the few tension
filled moments, she continued. "The girls took a little unscheduled trip.
I tried to get them back, but I picked up the wrong ones."

	"Okay, so what's going on?"

"The ones I *did* pick up are at the temple. They're kind of
disoriented and so on. I'd like you and Luna to keep an eye on them for
me until tomorrow." <And try to keep them from blowing up most of the
city.>

"Okay. We can do that." Artemis turned back the way he'd come.
"Hey, Luna! We've got work to do!"

	"Coming, sweetie!"

Setsuna raised an eyebrow at the suddenly blushing cat. He
laughed uncomfortably, somehow propping his paw behind his head.

Luna bounded neatly to the ground. "I was wondering where you'd
gotten to," she purred. "When I came back with the catnip oil, you
weren't... Oh! Hello Setsuna." If black cats could flush, Luna would
have.

The woman sighed, and rubbed her temples. <I am not going mad,
I'm only having a bad day... I am not going mad, I'm only having a bad
day...>

"I'm leaving. It has been a *very* long day."

The two moon cats watched her leave. "Is it just me, or does
she seem a bit more stressed than usual?" Luna asked. Artemis shrugged,
as best as a cat can.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Thank goodness none of them know where I really live.> Setsuna
mused mentally. <I wouldn't put it past those two to try and hunt me
down; once they see these other senshi'.>

She reached into her purse, and pulled out a large collection of
keys. "Let's see..." she started sorting through them. "Haruka's and
Michiru's house, Haruka's car, the master key for Minako's locker, key
to Usagi's diary, Motoki's apartment, Rei's diary, OSA*P's jewelry cases,
Mamo-chan's apartment... Aha! Here they are!" she finally fished the
keys she wanted out of the ring.

She let herself through the security gate, and made her way up
the drive to the mansion. After all, there are advantages to being able
to see into the future. Setsuna had made quite a bit of money in the
stock trade. She lived very comfortably on just the interest from her
accumulated fortune.

Opening the front door, she breathed a slow sigh, relaxing.

"I'm back!" she called. "I'm sorry I took so long."

"I don't mind waiting." He leaned in a nearby doorframe. "What
else do I have to do?"

"True. But I'd hate to think you'd be bored, waiting for so
long."

"You're worth waiting for, Setsuna." He moved forward, taking
her in his arms. "Although it wasn't very nice of you to interrupt what
we were doing..."

"Mmm... We'll just have to take it from where we left it then,
won't we, Mamo-chan?"

	"Oh, definitely," he chuckled.

And now, we gracefully fade out from the incipient lemon scene
(because I like my PG-13 rating where it is), leaving the sun to set
slowly over the city of Tokyo...

	"Oh, Mamo-chan..."

	SHUTTING OFF the sound track...

(Background noise switches to music: "o/Someday my prince will
come...o/"

That's in very bad taste, Verity.)
