If there was anything truly good about the Girl Days training, it
was that Ranma had her own room. And that Pops was sleeping in the
dojo (being banished there by Nodoka, who had NOT quite forgiven him
for his apparent desire to win the all time baka award). The room
had been slightly redecorated, true-- Ranma needed the vanity for her
A dash has no adjoining spaces, use: true--Ranma
Matter of opinion. In fact, for plain text, a space before _and_
after a dash improves readability. (Thus, in the above example,
"true -- Ranma".)
In tribute to Nodoka's firm belief that there was also a feminine
soul involved, there was fancily feminine sheets on Ranma's futon, a
full size mirror, and... two stuffed animals.
There is a space after each period of an ellipsis, use: and. . . two
Matter of opinion. In fact, going without spaces between the periods
is far more common; and (while it's not necessarily more legible) it's
far easier to word-wrap that way, since the spaces-between-the-periods
type of ellipsis often gets split up over a line break.
If you're putting a space after the ellipsis, though, you should put
one before it as well -- thus, in the paragraph above, "and...two" or
"and ... two".
"That's why I despise you," retorted Ranma, looking in the
mirror. Nabiki had redone her hair in a style reminicent of
Shampoos-- shorter, but there were the twin buns and ponytails.
Short ponytails, but there. If Shampoo had been a redhead the look
would have been scary. Hell, thought Ranma, it WAS scary.
Also, you either need to enclose Ranma's thoughts in quotes or
parenthesis (as you did earlier for her thoughts) in the last
sentence.
Another moot point. Some writers prefer to put thoughts in quotes,
or square brackets, or whatever. Other prefer not to. Either is
fine, as long as you do it consistently.
There are a number of other grammatical edicts that you make that I
disagree with, such as the odd assertion that a dash at the end of a
sentence should be followed by a period, but I think I've said more
than enough already...
