Looking at him practice, apply, and modify
techniques that I could only dream of, my heart is
filled with a warm emotion. Admiration and envy mix
as I watch him being challenged by powerful opponents
who won't even bother to look at me.

	When I was defeated by him, defeat in a true
sense of the word, I felt fear: fear for rejection,
for revenge, for my life... And yet, at the same time
I was filled with the greatest joy I have ever felt
in my pathetic life.

	He had become the greatest man I can think
of. He may be a fool, a playboy, a crossdresser, but
none of those are his fault, nor are they anywhere
near enough to shade his valiance and compassion.

	They say that strength and willpower are
nothing by themselves. He has both. I have neither.

	His enemies grudgingly respect him and his
admirers devote themselves to him. They are attracted
to the powerful charisma he releases only when it is
necesseary.

	He can forgive those who wished to curse him
with a fate worse than death, and never hesitates to
help them. The same goes for those after his life.

	Truly a man among men... but I would never say
that out loud.

	I'm nothing but a smear on him. What little I
have done for him is crushed to oblivion by my
numerous shameless crimes against him. Of course I
wish I could take them back, but you can never regret
before it's too late.

	No, it is better this way. Ignore his
accomplishments and hide my worthless love. For every
look of disgust and contempt they throw at me, his
glory and honor shine brighter. I will help him by
acting out the role of a worthless excuse of a father.





Author's note: Genma seems to be the least popular
character in Ranma 1/2. It is very understandable and
I share the same belief. However, some fics seem to
stretch the point beyond the limit. Incredible as it
may seem, I decided to defend him with this
thirty-minutes fic that interprets his attitude in the
original in a most positive manner I could think of.
