That's why authors who have fics or even chapters that large should post
in segments of 100K or under.  "Part 1 of 5", "Part 2 of 5," etc., is
not an uncommon thing to see on the list, and, as you pointed out, it is
the polite thing to do, to break such a large file down into smaller
chunks.
