Hmm...  Perhaps it's just me, but that seems to be a rather... unusual
demand.  I could be wrong, but I've always thought that fanfic authors
were in debt to their their readers, not the other way around.

I've never heard of C&C being given to a story *before* it's been read.
And if you're simply appealing to your readers on the list to send you
email begging for you to post... well it also seems to me that your
regular readers could just as easily go to your web page and read the
fic.

If you don't want to post to the list, by all means, don't do us any
favors.  The list is for receiving C&C, not adulation.  Adulation might
be a nice side effect in some instances, but, in my understanding at
least, it's not something that can be demanded.

If you want some C&C, on the other hand, just post the fic.
