So... is the next one the last chapter?  38 chapters to match
the original 38 volumes of the manga?  There would be a nice
sort of symmetry to that, if you can pull it off.  

There would be a nice symmetry in it, and I won't say I didn't think of
that... but Takahashi never really resolved her major storyline in 38
volumes of manga, and I can't resolve mine in 38 chapters.  The guess at
this time is for 40 chapters.
