Someone asked that I post the results of my survey to the list.  (This
survey was about the fan work "Troops", a parody of Cops and Star Wars,
distributed as Quicktime clips.)

Question 1: Do things like this count as fanfiction?

Slightly over half said yes - it's a fan work, and it's fiction,
therefore it's fan fiction.  Those who said no, drew a major non-
semantic distinction between "fanfiction" and "fanart" (or other types
of non-text fan works, like "fan movies").

Question 2: If so, has anyone ever seen any other fanfiction with
production values *this* high?

Only a few had (even translation "fanfiction" to "fan work", for those
who thought it was not a fanfic).  All but one of those who had,
referred to Japanese fan works (doujinshi?)...the authors of which, it
must be noted, sometimes get paid, thus justifying investment.  The
other reference was to Dr. Who work; I do not know whether for-profit
fan works are generally allowed for it.
