intended as a set-up for a Kasumi chapter that never got written because
that author dropped out of the project.

Yeah, but she did in this part. first thing in the morning.  The author
positively *lingered* on it.  "She needed the next size up."  As if a
wrapping comes in sizes. [rolls eyes]

The explanation is simple. The various characters were pulled from the
subconscious minds of the various people -- but given solid substance by
the power of the locket.

That might explain Nabiki's experience, but what about Mousse?  He claimed
to *know* that he had been tyring to get Ranma and Akane together for a
while -- long before the amulet popped up.

Well, he knew it after being in spirit form for a while. Presumably the
magic thingy was feeding him information.

Presumably because if she had access to a drug that can let her make
hypnotic suggestions, Kodachi would have long since used it.

Maybe. Maybe not. You'd have to be fairly subtle to use such a thing
effectively -- assuming it's not strong enough to make people do really
outrageous things like committing suicide. Note the way in which she did
it this time: convincing Nabiki that granting the wish straight-up would
be bad for her -- instead of just commanding her to grant it. I don't
see subtlety and patience as Kodachi's strong points.

Or has she?  Ranma and Kodachi's sordid love affair has been hidden by
her post-hypnotic suggestions that he forget each night of passion...

Eep. :) Um, yeah. And she's his best friend, too. Yeah. :-)
