A while ago I posted a little teaser in response to the fanfic "The
Replacement Ranmas." I liked the idea so much that I continued it from the
beginning. C&C are most welcome.

A boy wearing a red silk shirt sat in front of a telephone. Chin in hand,
he stared pointlessly into space. <Stupid Nabiki, this is all her fault!
Why she hafta go and...> The ringing phone shocked him out of his
thoughts. With an uncharacteristic lack of coordination, he fumbled with
the phone.
"Hello? No, sorry, Gen...ah Tamiya's at work. He told me to tell you
he'll make it up to you later. Uh-huh. Sure, I'll tell him." He replaced
the receiver with a sigh and leaned against the wall. "I wish he'd get his
own answering service. When he gets back..." His thought was interrupted
by a long, low growl. He looked down and grabbed his stomach. "Oh man!
I'm starved! I wish they'd get back soon! Heh, I know. I'll order
delivery and put it on Pop's... uh I mean Tamiya's bill." Chuckling to
himself, he quickly dialed.
"Hello! You've reached the Goddess Technical Help Line!"
	"Uh, sorry, wrong number."
"We will be there in just a moment to grant your access request."
"Huh? What are ya..." The connection broke off, a dull buzz sounding in
his ear. He slowly replaced the receiver. "Well, that was straAAAAANNGE!"
Looking up, he fell back in terror.
"Hello!" A sweet voice chimed from directly above him.
He found himself nose to nose with... "Kasumi?"
She climbed out of a very obviously fake mirror and stood in front of him.
She waved a finger and gave him a sugar coated smile. "Ah, ah, ah,
Ranma-kun. Belldandy. My name is Belldandy. And you are Morisato
Keiichi-san." Dropping back into character with amazing ease, she returned
to the script. "What do you wish?"
"Uh...oh yeah! I remember where we are now." He coughed and said, rather
stiltedly. "You mean I can wish for anything?" Ranma's thoughts whirled.
<Boy, wouldn't it be nice if I really could have one wish.> In a happy
daze, he completely missed his cue.
"Keiichi-san? Keiichi-saaaan." 'Belldandy' poked him a couple of times.
With a small frown she knocked on his head. Hard.
"Ouch! What ya go and do that.... Oh. Sorry, Kasumi." His hand sneaked
behind his head and he gave a weak laugh. "Uh... what'd you say again?"
"I said, you can have anything you wish for. Wealth, women, even the
destruction of the world, although we really wouldn't want to deal with
someone who wanted that." She cocked her head to one side. "So go ahead.
Ask for something you like."
Back in character, for the moment, Ranma gave a wry grin. "This has to be
a joke. I bet those guys thought it'd be funny to send a girl here while I
was alone. Especially knowing my problem with women." He couldn't help
rolling his eyes at that line. <And he thinks HE's got problems with women!>
	"Why do you say that?"
Ranma sighed and stood next to her. His head just barely passed her
shoulder. "Now do you get it? I'm too damn short."
Kasumi looked down at him in surprise. "Wow, Ranma, you really are
short!" He fumed. "But, I'm sorry, I still don't understand." A hand
lifted to her cheek in confusion. "Why would that deprive you of luck with
women?"
Ranma gave her a strange look. "You ain't kiddin', are you? Huh...."
His face turned pensive for a moment. A slow grin spread across his face.
"Okay, I might as well make my wish."
Kasumi clasped her hands together. "You've decided on one? Wonderful!
What is it?"
"I wish a goddess like you would always be with me." He pointed
dramatically at her, then turned away and started laughing. "How's that
for a crazy wish?"
Subtle vibrations shook the floor and a low humming grew steadily louder.
"What the...?" He whirled around and saw Kasumi slowly rising above the
floor, her eyes glowing. In an instant, a wild wind flung every object
around in the room, creating a tornado of projectiles. In the middle, a
beam of white light shot up through the roof, emanating from a strange
marking on Kasumi's forehead.
<Damn, they didn't spare any cash for special effects!> Ranma wondered,
bracing against the wind. Suddenly, it stopped and the light faded. Time
slowed as Ranma watched Kasumi fall. In an instant, he caught her deftly
in his arms. <Wow! I never knew she was so light!> He gently set her
down on the floor. Her eyes fluttered open.
	"Oh, my!"
"Oh, my? That's it? That's all ya hafta say? I mean jeesh, Kasumi! Why
can't *we* had those kinda effects. Hell, we don't even got stunt doubles!
And let me tell ya, those kicks of Akane's really hurt!"
Kasmui slowly stood up and straightened her robes. Ranma looked at her in
surprise, his thoughts scattering. <Huh, I never noticed how pretty she
is. With her hair up like that, and those clothes. Wow! No wonder why
Dr. Tofu goes nuts when she's around.> Ranma shook his head quickly.
<Woah, those kinda thoughts ain't real healthy!> Unconsciously, he looked
around for a mallet-wielding Akane.
Kasumi looked at him, a slightly stunned look on her face. "Your wish has
been granted."
"Oh, that's nice. My wish has been... MY WISH HAS BEEN GRANTED?" Ranma
shouted, shocked. "You mean you hafta stay with me forever?" The further
implications of his wish sunk in. "You mean you and I are supposed to....
but Akane and I engaged! I thought she was gonna be the one that...."
"Of course not. Didn't you read your script?"
His hand crept behind his head again, a large sweatdrop hanging. "Well, I
just kinda skimmed most of the script. Just ta get a general idea, ya
know. I mean if I had known... oh man," he sat down with a thump.
"Akane's gonna kill me!"
Kasumi gave his shoulders a squeeze. "Don't worry, Akane's not going to
be around for a while. At least a few more episodes." She smiled at him,
the one that made all of your problems go away in an instant and left you
with a faint craving for homemade cookies. He couldn't help but smile
back. Until he realized the next part of the script.
"Uh-oh. Kasu- I mean, Belldandy, we gotta get outta here. The guys'll be
here any second!" He jumped up and tried to pull her along.
"Wait, who is going to be here? Why do we have to leave?"
Ranma nearly screamed in frustration. "Dammit, you know why. You can't
stay here! Hell, you shouldn't even be in here at all. This is an all guys
dorm. Girls ain't allowed in here!" He grabbed her shoulders, his face
merely inches from hers. "If they find you with me..."
Footsteps thundered up the stairs. The door burst open in a flood of
light. Sunbeams silhouetted a very large form filling the doorway. Ranma
could only stare in horror as a very bald man wearing a faded gi strode in.
"Hey, Ranm-a <cough> Morisato. Did you take my calls like I asked you to?"
An older man wearing a very obvious blond wig whispered furiously into
other man's ear. A large sweatdrop hung on 'Tamiya's' head. He coughed
again and walked out of the room.
Ranma and Kasumi looked at each other in confusion, then jumped a foot as
the door crashed open again.
"Yo, Morisato, my man! Yuh take m'calls like I told ya, homey?"
Ranma, to his credit, tried very hard not to laugh, but ended up on the
ground, rolling. Kasumi just put a hand over her mouth to hide her smile
and said, "Oh, my."
Genma didn't miss a beat. He saw Kasumi, froze, then snapped his fingers.
 "You know da rools, Morisato."
"My baby's been compromised!" The 'blond' man burst into a flood of
tears. Genma face-faulted. He closed his eyes and smacked Soun upside the
head. "Pull yourself together! We have to stay in character!" He cleared
his throat, while Soun mopped his face with a handkerchief.
"Like I was sayin'. You know da rools, Morisato. Whadda we do when
someone breaks da rools, boys?"
In a chorus, a mismatched group of extras yelled, "Throw 'em out!"
Ranma stood up. He flicked his hair away from his face and, with his
typical half-grin, moved into a ready stance. "Heh. I'd like to see you
try."

***

"Send us your address and we'll send you the rest of your things." One of
the extras gave him a sardonic smile and a little salute before slamming
the door.
"I'm so sorry, Keiichi-san. This is all my fault. Because of your wish,
the Ultimate Force started. It makes sure that no matter what, your wish
will be fulfilled to the letter. Which means we can't be separated. Where
you live, I have to live. But don't worry." She gave him a huge smile.
"Things will turn out just fine."
"That's great, Kasumi, just great. NOW WILL YOU PLEASE UNTIE ME!" Ranma
flopped around on the sidewalk like a fish out of water, his hands and feet
tied together with nylon jump ropes.
Kasumi held her tongue at his lapse, and hurried to help him. Free of the
ropes, he rubbed his wrists and glared at the bags on the steps. With a
curse he grabbed two and stalked towards the street.
"I don't know how we're gonna find a new place to live. The sidecar on my
bike is..." He trailed off as he stared at the gleaming sidecar attached
to his motorcycle.
Soun's face popped out of an upstairs window. "I took the liberty of
fixing your sidecar for you! You take good care of my little girl, Ranma
Saotome!" His head began to grow larger, a forked tongue flickered in and
out of his mouth. In an instant it was back to normal. He smiled. "Have
fun!" With a wave, he disappeared again into the building.
Ranma glanced at Kasumi, who only gave a winning smile and a shrug. With
a resigned sigh, he picked up his helmet. "All right, I give up. This
Ultimate Force thing really is powerful." Kasumi laughed. Ranma smiled,
then frowned. "Hey, don't you think you should change or somethin'? I
mean you look a little weird dressed like that."
She looked down at her robes, then back up. "I guess you're right. I'll
change. Plus it would make a great segue into the driving scene!"
	Ranma facefaulted.

***

<Well, she was right. Changing did make a nice segue.> Ranma thought, as
he sped down the highway. He glanced at her quickly. <And she looks
really great in that outfit.> He blushed and mentally kicked himself.
<Stop thinking like that! Akane's already gonna kill ya so as it is!> He
sighed.
Kasumi looked up at him. When he braked for a stop light she asked,
"What's wrong, Keiichi-san?"
Ranma started out of his thoughts and held up his hands. "Nothing!
Nothing at all. I was just thinking about where we could go to stay.
Everyplace we've see hasn't been...." He trailed off remembering the
countless times the door slammed in their faces, or some old lech tried to
drag Kasumi into the apartment for God only knew what. He sighed again.
"It just seems like we'll never find a suitable place ta stay."
Kasumi smiled, pressed her hands together and closed her eyes. "I've got
a good feeling over that way." She pointed.
Ranma looked sideways at her, then shrugged. "Eh, why not. Whadda we got
to lose? So where are we headed exactly?"
Kasumi started rattling off directions faster than Ranma could even think.
"Go straight for another five block, then turn right. After the next two
lights after that make a left, then a right, and another left and then..."
"Argh!" He shook his head and closed his eyes briefly. "K-Belldandy, slow
down! I can't remember half of what you said!"
	"KEIICHI-SAN! LOOK OUT!"
The curve up ahead had hid a sports car barreling down the very narrow
road. It was too late to do anything but watch helplessly as the two
vechicals headed for a collision. Once again, time slowed for Ranma. He
turned to Kasumi, eyes wide with fear. Her eyes were closed tight, hands
clasped in front of her, and suddenly the strange markings on her forehead
opened, emitting a pure white light. The entire left side of the sports
car rose off the road, clearing just enough space for the bike to pass
safely. With a jolt, time sped up, the sports car gently righted itself
and skidded to a stop. Ranma quickly slowed down and pulled over to the
side of the road.
"Jesus! What the hell was that? I never saw no special effects like
that! We never even covered this in rehersals. We coulda been killed!"
Kasumi looked up at him, her face pale, but serene. "Don't worry,
Keiichi-san. We were never in any danger. I would never let you be hurt."
Her hand reached up towards his face. Her fingers brushed his cheek,
before falling back into her lap. Thunder rumbled overhead. Slowly, her
head dropped to her chest, shoulders slumping.
"Kasumi? Dammit, I mean, Belldandy? Hey, you okay? Shit." He cursed as
a large raindrop fell on his hand. He looked up and the sky opened. A
sheet of water fell, drenching the two in moments. Ranma clenched her
fists and started the bike again. "I gotta get you somewhere warm." She
thought frantically, trying to remember the directions that Kasumi had
given her. A memory flashed. "The old temple! I remember now. Hang on,
Belldandy," she said as the cycle roared to life. "We'll be there soon."
