Hiya folks.

No, I'm not dead (thanks for asking though ;). Although I -do- wish I was
at the moment...

I made Kitchen Mistake #141-A (Leaving Out the Mayonnaise), shortly followed
by Kitchen
Mistake #141-B (Eating Aforementioned Mayonnaise).

Boy, I feel stupid.

To those of you who have never suffered a case of food poisoning, I have
this to say: Don't.
It sucks. Hard.

The plus side, of course, is that I got to spend several days this week at
home working away
on my projects. So it isn't all bad... ;)

Anyway, here's the news:

-----------------------------------

-- Ranma 1/2: American Vacation --
Chapter One was posted a few weeks ago, and I've received several helpful
C&C's on it.
Thank you, FFML! The one very insulting, very personal flame I received was
cheerfully
forwarded to the senders ISP; Have A Nice Day! Jerk.

Then again, if the ISP followed their posted policy, it's not likely the
flamer is
seeing this right now anyway. Oh well. ;)

I'm revising Chapter One slightly, and will be reposting it when I post
Chapter Two. That
will be the last time it's posted to the FFML; after that, it will be
available on my website
once I get it going, or from me in email if you just can't wait (yeah,
right. ;)

Chapter Two is about three-quarters done. My prereaders are (hopefully)
going over it this
week or next, and I should have it ready and posted to the FFML within two
weeks. Yes, I
know, I've said that before... I will try my best though. ;)

Thanks for all the interest in this one, folks. I write because I want to,
but it
means more when I know people like what I've written. ;)

-- Ranma 1/2: Dangerous Lies --
Hmm... Some of you may remember this one from a fair while back. I received
several
responses when I posted the teaser, and they were uniformly discouraging.
As noted before,
the split was about even: my prereaders liked it, the people who responded
on the FFML
didn't. So I dropped it.

Apparently I shouldn't have.

I just received some mail from no less than four different people, all
asking me where
they can find it. I have a feeling this sudden popularity has to do with a
certain
just-returned FFML'er (thanks Freemage! ;) and his post about it... ;)

I am restarting the story. I can't say when it'll be out, and I'm not sure
how much
of a rewrite is in the works (obviously quite a bit, since several FFML
comments were right
on the mark about poor characterization), but I will be working on it.

Thanks for the interest, and the questions about it.

For those who asked, you can find the teaser I posted at:

-- Prereaders --
I have several prereaders already. The problem is, none of them are really
familiar
with anime (No, they're not from the FFML). I would like to find some
prereaders who are
willing to C&C my works and who are familiar with anime... and what better
place to look
than the FFML? ;)

If you're interested, please email me privately and I'll put you on the
list. Thanks.

-- Other Stuff --
I posted a [Spam] question once about this, and I didn't receive a single
response. Now
I'm desperate, in a way. Is there ANYONE on the FFML who knows anything
about possible
fanfic-related activities at Westercon (also known as EmpireCon)? If I
can't make it the
WHOLE weekend, I need to know what days/times I shouldn't miss.

Also about the con... The people who I was going to be splitting the cost of
a room with
have (apparently) dropped out on me. Of the three, only one is still
possibly in the
running, and I can't contact that one. Is there anyone on the FFML who is
both going to
the con and looking for someone to split the cost of a room with?

If you're interested, you can check out http://www.westercon.org for info
about the con.

------------------------------

Well, I think that about covers it. There's a couple of ideas I haven't
mentioned floating
around my skull, but those can wait until I've fleshed them out a bit.

Thanks, folks. As always, you can reach me at sofaspud@ior.com if you want
to.
