I'd be interested in any response the author has to this.  Are we the
readers) really meant to be sympathetic of the efforts of "the 
Tribe" to stay intact?  Or is it one of those things where we're 
supposed to identify with the Tribe, but at the same time know it 
isn't a good thing for Ranma to exist that way?

Well, since you asked... :)

A couple of things here.  

I know some one with MPD, or dissasociative identity disorder, as 
LilTiger put it.  She went through something that no person should go 
through, and the division of personalities was the only way she could 
deal with it.  They are real.  She is not faking or pretending.  She 
is not hiding.  She *is*, however, surviving.  

Well, let's get back to the question of the fic.  This is difficult, 
because everyone has a different POV, and everyone interrprets things 
differently.  Your response was not one that I expected. :)  I'm glad 
you brought it up though, makes me think through things.  

My goal was to basically show the adventures of a Ranma who is 
dealing with the effects of a terrible event the only way he can.  
A 'dark' story was not my intention, I don't think I -could- write 
one.  I tried in one chapter of another fic. . .

Mainly, I picture conversation between the members of this unique 
family as they try to keep things together and survive day-to-day.  
My goal was struggle, adventure, and enjoyment.  

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the story, but I accept it.
