Hitomi's reply to the list.
Hello, Hitomi.
First, Batman is a lot better than a lot of people think. In the
comic books, he spent several YEARS travelling the world in order to
learn martial arts. All types of exotic techniques that would beat
out ANY that Ranma learned, even at the end of the series. He >started
his crusade, in the comics when he was 35.
Okay, let's talk about stats here for a minute... According to the DC
heroes database, which, in turn, is based on the abilities the
characters possess in the comics, states that Batman has a strength
level that is at maximum human level. Ranma would easily be the same,
wouldn't you say? The things he's been able to block, break, or smash
with his fists alone accounts for that.
As for martial arts, Batman *is* a master. However, he has never once
used a ki-based attack. I don't believe he's ever thrown 100+ punches
in a matter of a few seconds. I don't think he can jump from the ground
to a roof top with out the help of the bat cable/line thing. Ranma has
done this. Of course, this is *canon* Ranma, so perhaps it doesn't
apply here.
agent of MI6. In the Ninja storyline, he learned to kill with just >a
touch, although he never used the technique himself. Remember, >among
his skills is the ability to seemingly disappear in seconds. >That's
something Ranma does NOT know.
Yeah, the ninja storyline was cool, as was the follow up. What do you
mean, by 'disappear in seconds' , btw? (Curiosity speaking, not a
criticism)
In the first chapter of this story, Jessica had put down Bruce was a
STUDENT of Cologne. If he was a student, and for a longer time, of
the same person who is training Ranma, who do YOU think would be
better? It would not be Ranma from where I sit.
Certainly, but the premise alone stretches the realm of believability a
bit. Why would Cologne train him? Did Bruce defeat one of her great
grand daughters as well? As for training him longer, you state later
that Bruce was her student for 6 months. How long has Ranma been
training with Cologne at the time of the fic?
Also, this story DOES NOT OCCUR at the end of the series. Why so >many
people are telling Jessica it is, is beyond me. Especially >since the
wishing sword story arc occurs in the first half of the >series of
books.
Besides, who said that this is following the exact storyline of the
books. Did anyone actually READ the first chapter and find some >clues
to what was going on or did it go over ALL of your heads?
Nodoka STATED that she had already met Ranko and Panda-chan.
Something that did not happen until LATER in the books.
Now, doesn't that clue tell you that something else is going on?
Hey, there's nothing wrong with changing canon to fit your story. I do
it all the time. . . However, in doing so, I fully expect to get
criticized and flamed by the Akane fans out there. It's just one of the
consequences of doing that.
Also, as to Nabiki's intelligence, and her ability to make money. I
don't think ANY of you know the cost of living over here, so please
refrain from doing a price comparison based upon what you have in
America. Also, considering that she is virtually the SOLE support >of
the Tendo Dojo, AND given how much the upkeep is on land, the >cost of
wood, and so on, I would suggest a number of you revise your >estimates
of how much she makes.
How could Nabiki make that much money?
Okay, I have a question. Is there an anime or manga reference that
states that Nabs supports the family? If so, all well and good. If
not, don't be surprised at people commenting on it. That really goes
with any assumption you make. You may not be wrong, but if there's no
proof that you're right, people will call you on it.
As for Batman. GIVE ME A BREAK! Anyone could have figured out who >he
was, if others did not play Bruce Wayne and be in the same area >at the
same time as the Batman. The clues I saw used were the most >obvious,
and the most telling. Add that to the clues about the Art, >and you
have the answer, especially since both Bruce and Nodoka >STATED that he
spent years at the Masaki Dojo and was the designated >heir.
Anyone who sees both sides of the story can certainly tell who Bruce
Wayne really is. But when you *don't* have all the information, like
the characters, things become much more complicated. Everyone's world
view is different. Is Nabs sharp enough to figure it all out? I have
no clue. . . you can debate that either way.
personally think a LOT of you owe an apology to Jessica for claiming
you know her story better than she does. It seems funny to me that
everyone considers the author is the LAST person to know what she is
writing.
I don't think people were claiming to know her story better, but I'm
fairly sure they were claiming to know *Ranma* and/or *Batman* better.
I mean, as readers of fanfiction, our only basis for offering C&C is
grammar, a logical premise, enjoyment, and how well things stick to
*canon*
Now, if you don't care about keeping things in canon, why worry about
comments concerning canon?
Jessica, personally, I like the story, (expect for a few canon issues,
*grin*) and hope you keep it going.
Later,
