A nice beginning. I'm not so sure Ranma would be ready to just hand
Ukyou over to Ryouga, though. On a certain level, he likes being
pursued.

I'd suggest that you have Ukyou do something to really annoy Ranma near
the start of the chapter. That way he'll be upset enough to want to get
rid of her by setting her up with Ryouga. This has the extra benefit
that once he cools down he'll change his mind and wish he hadn't done
it. And of course, since the title is "Crossed Wires", Ranma will be
absolutely convinced that things are going just great between Ryouga and
Ukyou.

"Oh, its nothing Ranma. You know I think its really nice how well
you and Ryoga are getting along now," Akane said, as she looked at her
fiancee to gauge his reaction.
"Hey I'm glad you like it. I'm going to meet him after school and
go to Ucchans," Ranma said relieved at the route the conversation was
taking.
I should be mad at him going to see Ukyo, but Ryoga wouldn't let
him get away with anything. Oh no, what if Ranma's corrupting Ryoga.
"Ranma how could you do something like that to a nice guy like Ryoga,"
Akane said through clenched teeth as her temper suddenly rose.
     "What!"
Akane slammed her book bag into the side of Ranma's head and then
walked past the twitching martial artist.

So people might say this is the typical mischaracterization of making
Akane a bit too much of a psycho. I disagree though.

The point is that Akane really _doesn't_ think that Ranma is
"corrupting" Ryouga. That's just the excuse she gives herself. The
real reason for her anger is that Akane has long had an almost exclusive
lock on Ranma's friendship. She's the only one really close to him.

If she thought Ranma was forming a strong friendship with someone else,
even as a purely male-bonding platonic type thing, I could see Akane
getting a bit jealous. Of course, it's nothing she wouldn't get over
eventually, but I could see it happening.

Now since this _is) "Crossed Wires", where everyone gets the wrong idea,
I'm sure Akane will end up feeling increasingly abandoned by Ranma.
Purely as a misunderstanding, of course.

End of Chapter One

A good start. Unless you have a whole lot of ideas, I'd suggest keeping
this a realtively short fic. Maybe just a few chapters. I've seen too
many good stories go unfinished because their authors got half-way
through and started running out of steam.
