Chapter 1
Enter the Night

	Ranma sighed and stared up at the night sky.  His left shoulder still
stung from where Akane had hit him with a mallet.  "How can I just let her
beat me up like that?"  He shook his head sadly and fell backwards so he
was lying on his back on top of the roof of the Tendo Training hall.  His
thoughts kept going on various tracks while he started counting the stars.
	Ranma watched as a shooting star shot across the sky.  He smiled and
thought about how Akane would be making a wish when she saw the shooting
star.  He watched as a dozen more suddenly shot across the heavens.  Ranma
blinked as he saw a small purple flash by the moon.  "What the hell was
that?"  He was on his feet before even remembering to get up.  There it was
again, a small purple speck just to the right of the moon.  It was glowed
just like a star might, but it was a deep purple.  Even as he watched it
winked out of existence.
	Ranma stared for many minutes straining to catch a glimpse of whatever it
was.  He heard a small laugh behind him and he whirled.  Akane stood there
with a smile on her face.  "And just what are you laughing at."
	"You sure must see something interesting up there eh Ranma."  She smiled
and sat down on the top section of the roof.  Ranma grumbled and sat back
down himself.  "Did you just come up here to pester me or do you actually
want something."  Akane glared at him as she spoke.  "I just came to stare
at the stars, or is there something wrong with that?"
	Ranma just shook his hand and couldn't think of what to say for the life
of him when another shooting star shot across the starry sky.  Akane
watched it and smiled happily.  "Isn't it beautifully Ran......"  Her words
trailed off as the shooting star didn't vanish and curved sharply sending
it towards the ground several miles away.  They saw a huge flash of light
as the object hit the ground.
	Akane grabbed his arm before Ranma took off running.  "It's almost
midnight, can't you wait till morning?"  Ranma looked like he was about to
say something snide but nodded his hand and sat back down.  Akane smiled as
she sat back down next to Ranma.

	A round of applause sounded as the Zelgadis, the current spokesman of
Mishma Heavy Industries stepped up to the podium. He was an older man with
small glasses and was completely bald on top.  "Greetings Ladies and
Gentlemen.  Thank you all for coming this evening.  I know many of you are
curious as to why we pushed up the meeting date for this demonstration.  I
will explain the need for the urgency as soon as you have seen all of our
new weapon developments.  I would first like to present our upgraded Power
Suit."  
	He pushed a small button on his control panel and a corner of the room
swung open.  A two meter tall battlesuit stood their.  There was a small
missile rack on its right shoulder and a modified chain gun in its left
hand.  "With state of the art guidance systems, and pain suppressants this
small unit is capable of taking out things much stronger than itself.  Due
to some recent... problems in our android department the suit still has to
have a human pilot."
	He pulled out his remote again and punched a short keycode.  The powersuit
retracted back into the wall and a hologram of a jet in the shape of a Y
popped up.  "Next up on the agenda is the Wraith fighter.  Poison 1, in
many cases, wasn't able to get the job done to the extant that the buyers
requested, so we upgraded the old model.  In order to build this the people
in our space and cloaking technology department teamed up to build this
state of the art one manned fighter.  They are relatively inexpensive and
with an antigravity system are able to stay at a hover almost indefinably. 
It also has an experimental cloaking field on it as well.  Allowing it to
bend light rays around the ship, causing it to vanish from normal sight."
	He pressed one button and the jet transformed into the figure of a tank. 
"This is our new upgraded Leveler Class Siege tank.  Many of you will
recognize it from the old Artillery class extreme long range support tank. 
It took hours to move that version, and it had no close up defense system. 
This new version is capable of artillery to tank transformation in under 5
minutes.  It is perfect for an ongoing assault with energy cannons instead
of conventional shells.  This leads to an almost indefinite supply of ammo.
	He smiled as he hit the last button on his remote.  "And for the moment
you've all been waiting for."  The hologram of the tank stretched out till
it filled half the room before the lines began changing shape into a
warship of gigantic proportions.  "This is the current crowning achievement
of the Mishma Heavy corporations research, the Leviation Battle cruiser. 
Fully crewed it holds 150 personal including the team of 50 weapons
experts.   Its main weapon system consists of over 200 laser batteries and
its main gun, the Yamato Cannon."  
	The holograph shifted to the front part of the ship showing a huge dome
for amplifying the energy blast.  "The Yamato Cannon fires a stream of
energy roughly 3 miles long.  The damage is astonishing, destroying almost
everything placed in front of it.  The only drawback to this weapon is that
it temporally shuts down all of the other weapon systems on board the
vessel, from the huge energy drain.  And it also can only be fired once
every 6 hours.  More of a last resort type weapon than anything else. 
Lastly its fighter bays can hold 20 Wraith fighters, making this one of the
most formidable fighting ship ever invented."
	He paused briefly and took a sip of water before continuing.  "There are
currently 2 of these fully operational Battle cruisers.  We had to rush the
development a little bit so we are still perfecting the latest models.  
	"Now many of you are very curious as to why we moved up the date of this
meeting by over 4 months.  Two days ago during a small meteor shower a
warship unlike any we have every seen before crashed into the foothills of
the Mt. Fuigi.  Due to the fast response by our containment team we were
able to keep the information from the general public with the farce that it
was really a small meteorite hitting the Earth, and so far the ruse has
worked.  All the beings on the ship were dead by the time we found them,
and there body chemistry is like nothing we have ever seen before.  They
are thin beyond belief, weighing maybe 80-90 pounds average from the ones
we were able to measure."  He paused briefly to push several buttons on a
side panel and stepped back slowly as a secret compartment swung open
revealing an extremely frail 9 foot tall humanoid.  Next to the humanoid
was a suit of armor which seemed to be plated in gold and had 3 large
crystals imbedded on it, one on each wrist and one on the center of the
armor.
	"We do not know for certain if all the aliens were killed in the crash. 
We have 4 squads sweeping the area around Mt. Fuji in a circular pattern. 
Two of the new Wraith fighter units are being used so the general populace
won't know.  If any of these things possibly survived we will soon know. 
Now on to other matters."
	"I don't know how many of you watch the skies at night, but last night
there was a rather, weird, phenomenon that occurred last night just 4 miles
outside of lunar orbit.  It first appeared on our scanners at about 11:20
last night, and remained in a fixed position for about 15 minutes.  Shortly
thereafter the flaming trail of the alien craft was recorded and it crashed
near Mt. Fuji. Our scientists believe this is some kind of gateway used to
travel at high speeds between the stars.  Note we have no actually proof of
this, but one of our new Leviation Battle Cruisers in roughly the same spot
it appeared last night.  Also a note of rather curious speculation.  In the
area where this supposed 'gate' we found the bodies of 7 other creatures,
drastically different from the ones on board the ship.
	"We don't have the specimens here yet seeing as we don't want the ship to
leave the area of the gate if it opens again, but we did get the scientists
preliminary findings.  Five of the creatures recovered are about 4 feet
high weighing roughly 90 pounds.  Apparently made solely for fighting
purposes there arms were super hardened cartilage, easily capable of
cutting through many types of substances.  The second creature recovered
was significantly larger, almost 10 feet in height.  Upon initial
dissection revealed the shoulders were able to open up and contained a row
of small spikes and acid pouches, with a small sacks of gas situated just
below the shoulders.  Our people theorized that the gas is ignited or
pushed into the spikes at high pressure to send them flying, our best guess
is that they can shoot several hundred yards.  The last creature we
recovered was many times larger than the first two.  It was almost 3 meters
in length and about a meter wide.  Most of its body was one huge pressure
plant.  It was able to take in outside air, compress it, and release it
faster than most of our own can.  Also from its lack of legs we surmise
this to be a creature that survives utterly in the air, using its gas pouch
to hover well for its entire life however long that might be.  It also had
a huge pouch of acid alongside its stomach, possible for use as a
projectile weapon."
	"On Earth we have never seen evolution to such a severe point!  These
creatures were obviously breed for one purpose in mind, combat.   These 2
new alien races have our tech people scurrying trying to discover ways to
combat them, or weakness they might have.  Hell for all we know this
warrior caste of creatures serves these the ones who crashed into the
mountains earlier.  We hope that new information will become available to
use as soon as the we are able to study their technology more in depth.  We
hope to get together with you again soon.  Thank you and Good Night."
	People started slowly started shuffling out of the room with muffled
conversations going on here and their as people left.  Zelgadis sighed to
himself as he stepped down from the podium and thought to himself about the
whole matter.  Akiko really hadn't taken the news about the aliens well
seeing as how Ryunosuke was away at camp and she couldn't keep her eyes on
him every minute of the day.  Grandfather had laughed at the new alien
species and thought just how much this would boost their sales.  Kyusaku
thought it was some kind of big hoax of course and was still teaching at
the highschool while working on some new "revolutionary" program on his
computer.
	Zelgadis walked slowly behind the others and headed for the control room
to watch for new delopments and to get ready to order more life insurance.

	Nuku Nuku walked slowly home from school giggling to herself about how
well today at school had gone.  Two guys had gotten into a fight over her
at lunch time and another one had bought her some Sushi.  Nuku Nuku smiled
as she thought of a big fish.
	She stopped suddenly and cocked her head to the side and muttered "Eh?" 
Her robotic cat ears popped up and turned this way and that till she looked
the source of the noise.  A young man dressed in a red shirt went sprinting
across her view farther down the street.  A second young man screaming "I'm
going to kill you Ranma!"  Was fast on his heels holding what appeared to
be an umbrella.
	Nuku Nuku shrugged to herself and thought just how wonderful the town of
Nerima was.  Although none of Mishma Heavy Industries people came to play
with her anymore so things had been rather dull and boring lately. 
Especially with Ryunosuke gone to camp.  Nuku frowned and thought about how
much she missed him.  She vowed to herself to earn enough money to buy him
a new present and smiled to herself, starting to skip home.
