Hi all.
I'm celebrating my renewed ability to post to the FFML by asking a
couple questions that have been bugging me for a while. Please respond
privately, unless you feel that your response would provide undeniable
edification to a plurality of the ML readers. Thanks!
1) Where do the names 'Yuka', 'Sayuri', 'Hiroshi', and 'Daisuke'
come from in Ranma? Are they cannon, or just common practice? I
really can't recall ever seeing those names in the manga, although
I'll admit that I may have missed the references, if they only
appear once, and I have yet to see all the eps on tape.
2) Why does everyone assume that Ranma loves Jackie Chan / Bruce Lee?
It would seem, at his level of competence, that watching a Chan
flik would be as annoying to Ranma as watching 'The Net' or
'Hackers' can be to serious programmers (if you've never
experienced the joy of a room full of kibitzing hacker/slacker
genius geeks pointing out the shortcomings of a hacker flik...
count your blessings ^_^;;). Is this cannon, or assumption?
Note: I love Jackie Chan movies. Jackie Chan rocks. I am
_not_ flame-proof. Flames suck.
3) Does anyone out there follow Shonen Ace? It's a pain to get in
my area (recently Ft. Hood, TX; now Camp Dobol, Bosnia) and I
would love to know if it's possible to get a subscription here,
or a pseudo-sub from a reputable manga/book/comic shop. Also,
has anyone else out there read any Jyoushi Karatebu Plus One? If
so, could you let me know where you found it, if it was in a
tankobon rather than in Ace? I'm partway through a +One fic,
but I'd love further background (I only have issue 1, '99, and
issue 11, '98 of Ace currently).
4) There is nooooo... question number 4!
5) I signed up for a four-day pass to AnimeFEST! in Ft. Worth, but
have since found out that our deployment may or may not continue
until the middle of September. If it turns out that I'll still
be over here come Con time, I'm gonna donate them to a needy otaku
who wouldn't otherwise be able to make it. Mind you, if I'm back
in Texas even just for the last day, I'm going ^_^.
At any rate, I've been informed that it takes a while to process
ticket-holder change-over, so if anyone's interested, let me know
soon. I'll let you know what's up with my deployment as soon
as I find out (gotta love trickle-down information).
That's about it. And, as I said before, please respond privately unless
you've got something really important to _just_about_everyone_ that you
need to unburden yourself of. Especially if you're just asking about
the tickets.
