Just a bit of trivia here. Admiral Yamamoto's actual quote was "I fear
we have awakened a sleeping giant, and filled him with a terrible
resolve."
Yamamoto had toured the U.S. before the war, at the height of the
Depression, and saw the many factories lying dormant. As you depict in
your story, he knew that only a decisive victory at the onset of
hostilities would allow Japan to prevail.
Thanks for the Support. A lot of people don't seem to like my using the
Yamamoto sequence. But the problem, is that in my opinion that Genma has
all the makings of the perfect Fascist. Following a winner to the end (I
mean the guy was a student of Happosai, is Tojo and company that big a
stretch?) It was my belief that Genma would need inside information
before he bolted. Faith in the emperor aside, he is the master of
Martial Arts Justification. As farfetched as it may seem it was the best
jumping off point as I could think of. How Nodoka handles this is hard
to say. The best justification I can say is that he manages to hedge the
issue until it is to late for her to do anything about it. Yes I know
it's far fetched. I'm working on it. Thanks for everyone's support.
