If I remember correctly (I asked this sometime ago), the name Lemon
originally came from an (in)famous hentai manga Cream Lemon.  Cream Lemon
was a Lolita-type H-manga that excited some controversy over in Japan, and
the PTA became involved (the PTA being a very powerful force in Japanese
politics).  In the course of the press coverage, the name "lemon" stuck as
a reference to hentai manga.  "Ecchi" (being the Japanese pronounciation
of the letter "H", itself a reference to hentai) and "hentai" are still
more commonly used terms in Japan for pornographic material.

Please don't quote me on that one.
