Hoi,

First off, I'm asking this in regards to a fanfic I'm writing, so it
is related to the list. Anyways, I recall reading somewhere that the
Japanese consider birds to be an ill portent or evil omen.... is >this
true? And what are some of the other things that are considered >to be
indications of bad things to come?
Thanks
Derek

The list of bad omens is just too long. They also very apon what
experances the person has had. Several classic examples are the
breaking of a tea cup, an owl hooting, ravens sitting above your door
way, or a flight of birds suddenly breaking formation.

And the list goes on. The thing about omens is you need to look into
the characters past. For example: If some insident with an elephant
occured right before something terrible happens to the character, from
that point on, the character may consider anything to do with elephants
a bad omen. Animals that are scavengers, or carry disease suddenly
appearing can be bad omens, because they represent an aspect death for
some people.

As the writer it is up to you to consider what each individual would
consider a bad omen. Also what is bad omen for one person is a good one
for another... The hooting owl is a good example of this.
