One thing I value a lot is the feedback on work I've done (that is, unless
if it's flames or put downs... ^_^;;) from others. But one thing I can't
seem to stop blinking at and thinking "eh?" is this one comment...
"The swearing really isn't nessicary."
Now it's not that I'm saying everyone should have swearing, or that you
shouldn't tell others to exclude swearing, it's just that most fanfic
writers are teens or adults and swearing a common thing in our lives, so a
character saying "fuck" or "shit" shouldn't really be something to argue over.
One example is a char' of mine that has his character as a jerk shown
through the fact that he swears so much it'd make a sailor say "Oh! Such
language!"
And a lot of the comments I got were that it doesn't make him cool y
swearing in everyother word.
*sigh*
Maybe I'm digressing... but I'll make this point outright, when a char' is
made so encredibly annoying and hated, it's kinda obvious that the creator
wanted people to hate him.
Now look at some of the most successful things that are loaded with swearing...
Stephen King books contain characters that swear more than any normal person
would, heck, if he had a the chance, he'd make their pets swear as well. ^_-
(just kidding around, I love his works, but still, the swearing does seem
excessive)
HBO's Spawn, one of my personal fave adult cartoons, it's a lot of violence,
a tiny bit of nudity (wich oddly is just Wanda, you don't think the director
has a Wanda fetish do ya? ^_^ Why not some other famale cast?), and a lot of
swearing, course this thing is easily granted since it's a dark setting and
all the caracters should act like they were in a dark and gritty world.
Rap music-- Oops! I forgot that Rap isn't all that good. j/k ^_^
