Ok, first off I'd like to ask a question. I'm a little fuzzy on how Ranma and
Ryouga first meet and I need to know for my Ranma fic. If anyone could give me
the details _Privately_ I would be most appreciative.
Now real quick before I get to the fic I want to say that I sent a post to
the FFML saying that my story wasn't going to be all Dark. Well, that was only
because I thought everyone {That replied at least} thought Dark Pokemon fics
were on the same level as say...Kasumi Rape fics. Blame it on me being a
nervous new author who would probably change his story for his audience if
just one or two members of said audience spoke out against it. Ok, Ok, would
change it. Anyway, seeing as not everyone thought Dark Pokemon was wrong here
is chapter 2 of No One. Which will BTW be a mostly Dark fic and maybe even
Dark all the way through. I know that plot wise there isn't much yet but
that'll change next chapter so bare with me.
Public and private C&C much yearned for. Flames can be sent directly to me.
They will be read and the spelling will most likely be laughed at.
Dark Pokemon Warning - This is Dark and Pokemon. If you think that these two
genres being put together is inherently wrong read no further. If not please
go on.
Copyright Warning - I don't own most of the characters in this. Though
Jonathan Gore is mine because he came from my head.
Original Flavor Warning - This is an Original Flavor fic...And well you know
the deal. If you don't like'em stop reading if you do read on.
Quality Warning - This probably isn't that good a fic. I'm still a very new
author. But the only way I'll get better is start off bad and write till you
are good. Hopefully I'll keep writing up till and after then. {BTW if you want
to help me get better send some C&C my way. : ) }
"No One"

Chapter 2
He was cold, lonely and scared. He had trouble seeing and his arm still hurt
from where he had been cut by the Pokemon he was now stalking. He readied a
Pokeball and picked up a rock. He aimed as best his shaking arm would let him
and let the rock fly. His aim somehow had been true and the rock hit the
Sandshrew on the back of the head. It's headed snapped forward with the force
of the rock and slowly came back up and turned to face it's would be capture.
It looked angry. His entire 6-year-old body shook with pure, unadulterated
fear. The Pokemon seemed to sense his fear and began to move in on him. For a
moment he forgot the Pokeball in his hand. He remembered it almost too late.
When he did realize what he was holding a smile broke through his fear and he
launched the red and white orb at what was not to be his first Pokemon.
The Sandshrew batted away the Pokeball breaking it in half. The Sandshrew
stood still for a moment then charged. As it reached it's prey it swiped his
chest with it's razor sharp claws. And for a second time in a week this
Sandshrew almost killed Jonathan Gore. As Jonathan began to feel the blood
flow and pain rack his body he awoke in a cold sweat clutching his chest.
Jonathan took deep breathes to calm himself unconsciously tracing the scars
left on his chest from his second encounter with a Sandshrew. *Why must my
dreams torment me with my life?* he thought bitterly to himself as settled
back down under his sleeping bag. Morning would come soon so he decided to
forgo more sleep and get up. After all, sleep would only bring more dreams.
Make him relive more of his Gods awful life.
He carefully folded his sleeping bag and put it in it's bag. He quickly
dressed and put his hair into a ponytail. He scooped up his sword and belt
before heading outside. Once outside he took a deep relaxing breath of the
cool morning air and began to do the one thing in his life that didn't make
him rue the day he was born. He began to practice his martial arts. He started
with an easy kata to warm up before moving to a more complex one focusing on
the use his katana.
He found that while performing katas he was much more aware of his
surroundings. He could almost feel the details of each blade of grass under
his bare feet. On the skin that was left bare he could almost feel where
minuscule particles of pollution floated along in the air. On the skin covered
by his quite armor like black clothing he could almost feel each fiber that
had been used to make the clothing, each tiny snag or misplaced fiber and each
individual stitch.
In his trance like state of fluid, graceful movement he didn't notice the
teenager who stumbled upon his camp. The young girl wore tennis shoes, a pair
of tight blue jeans a little to long and a black silk like blouse. The only
thing that stood out about her was her hair. She had it in two pigtails and
where they met here head she had Pokeballs tied into them. As she watched the
man she herself was put into a trance watching him move and flow like water in
a stream. *Wow.* was all she could think. She watched and watched, perhaps for
hours, perhaps for minutes. She didn't know. He ended the kata by replacing
the katana in it's sheath and bowing in the direction he had ended up facing.
When Jonathan finished up his kata and sensed the girl at the edge of his
campsite he immediately redrew his katana and took a defensive stance pointing
the blade at her. "Who are you and what is your business?" he questioned in a
tone firm as steel and just as cold.
The question startled the girl out of her trance and she jumped back to
reality. Realizing he had asked her something she smartly replied, "Huh?"
Jonathan repeated is question in the same harsh tone of voice, a tone that
scared the girl immensely. "Uh...uh, I'm...I...I'm Ja..Jamie. I'm a Pokemon
trainer...I wa..was just....just passing through."
Jonathan's stance relaxed and his katana disappeared from sight in a flash.
"Then continue on your way." he told her politely but still making it clear
that he didn't like people.
"Cou...could I ask you something first?" Jamie asked much less nervous now
that the steel blade was not out and directed her way. *Who am I kidding? If
he wanted too he could have it out and in my throat before I blinked. And I
doubt he'd hesitate or feel remorse for one second...He'd probably lick my
blood of his sword and eat my body!*
Jonathan sighed and looked thoughtful for a moment. "Fine, what is it that
you wish to know?" he finally said in a neutral tone.
*Ok, so maybe not.* "Um, are you a Pokemon trainer by any chance?" she asked
hopefully. What answer she was hoping for she wasn't sure. This man still
scared her but he seemed much less scary now that he wasn't treating her like
a potential sharpening block.
"Yes, I am. Do you wish to do battle?" asked Jonathan predicting what her
thoughts were before she voiced them. *Perhaps a quick battle will be good for
Me.*
"Ah, sure. How many Pokemon? I only have four." Jamie said feeling a little
more relaxed.
"How about 2 then?" Jonathan asked seriously.
"Fine by me." Jamie was now totally relaxed. Pokemon battling was part of her
element. Also the man's voice seemed lighter almost tinged happy but still
serious and flat. "I call you Raticate!" called Jamie sending out the large
rat Pokemon.
Jonathan thought for a few moments before deciding on Hitmonchan.
"Hitmonchan, I call you."
Jamie swallowed nervously knowing her Raticate would have a very hard time
dealing with such a powerful Pokemon. *Strategy. Gotta use strategy.*
"Raticate Quick Attack now!"
As Raticate charged at Hitmonchan Jonathan stayed silent. After all he
trusted his Pokemon to do the right thing. He had trained them all very
diligently in all areas. Including fighting without his instruction. As
Raticate got ever closer Hitmonchan tensed and dodged at the last possible
second. Before the Raticate could even turn back around Hitmonchan landed a
Mega Punch placing Raticate in a bumbling stupor.
"Raticate, use Hyper Fang!" Cried out Jamie.
The Raticate in it's drunken like state couldn't hear clearly and tried
another Quick Attack. This one failing more miserably than the last, as
Hitmonchan didn't even need to dodge. Using expert timing she caught the
Raticate in the chin with a Thunder Punch bringing an end to this part of the
battle. Raticate fainted dead away and Jamie wordlessly called him back.
Jonathan called Hitmonchan back in the same fashion, then decided to call his
Pokemon first giving Jamie a better chance.
"Pikachu, you need some experience. I call on you." Jonathan punctuated his
statement by releasing his newest Pokemon from it's Pokeball. Even though his
newest, Pikachu had been his for almost a year now. The Pikachu had become
accustomed to it's Pokeball but still felt a great relief to be out of it,
especially for a battle. It's master had not called on him for months and it
wanted to be sure it hadn't lost the edge it's master had put upon it with his
intensive training.
*A Pikachu....that's weird....He seems like he'd have a Raichu if anything.
Oh, well...* thought Jamie while she contemplated her choices. *Hmm, I haven't
used Graveler in at least four weeks. Maybe it's time he got out a little.
Besides he'd have a great advantage over an electric Pokemon.* With that
thought Jamie plucked Graveler's Pokeball from the plastic holder that kept it
in her pig tail. "Graveler, I choose you!"
*Smart kid.* thought Jonathan. *Too bad Pikachu is built up high enough that
he should negate almost all of Graveler's initial advantage.*
The two Pokemon measured each other up. Pikachu made the first move and used
Agility on itself before going in for a Quick Attack. Pikachu hit his mark and
sent Graveler flying back. Graveler was quick to get back up and even quicker
to use it's Rock Throw attack. Pikachu dodged at the last second and was only
nicked by the hurtling projectile. Taking the opportunity Pikachu used his
Quick Attack again. And once again the Graveler found itself on it's back.
Graveler took a moment to return to his feet. A moment too long because just
as he reached his feet Pikachu used it's Thunder attack and finished the
match.
Jamie's shoulders fell in disappointment as she silently called Graveler
back. "Pikachu, good job. Return." said Jonathan in a cool fashion that showed
no hint of arrogance or that he was gloating. In fact his voice sounded the
same as it had since Jamie had explained herself, flat and cold, emotionless.
*Thank the Gods. Finally someone who doesn't rub it in when they beat me.
Someone who doesn't make me feel like dirt just cause his Pokemon can beat
mine!* thought Jamie, glad that not everyone in the world was a jerk. *Too bad
he seems so...cold and edgy. He's really cute and I can't remember the last
time I had a real boyfriend.* She thought reminding herself Mark didn't count.
Quickly though she dashed any thought of courting this guy when with her
mental eye she saw herself on the sharp end of his sword for bothering him.
Besides she knew plenty of nice guys back home. Best to get out of here before
he started gloating she thought. "Uh, thanks for the battle..." Jamie thought
hard but could not remembers this man's name. *Oh, yeah! He never told you.*
she suddenly remembered. "..Sir, I'll be going now."
"That'd be a good idea. It's almost dark and not everyone in this world has
good intentions towards those who can't protect themselves. Or at least who
seem unable to do so." said Jonathan glad that he would not have to shoo off
another girl wanting to stick around with him after a Pokemon fight. Not that
he was conceited but he did know he was a good-looking man and attracted his
fair share of suitors.
Jamie turned on her heel and walked off in the same direction she came. After
a few seconds she came back looking very embarrassed and left via the opposite
end of the campsite.
----------------------------------------
Jonathan sighed and began the process of packing up his things so he could
get a move on and cover some ground before the whole day became a waste. *Why
doesn't it ever get any easier?* Jonathan had never gotten used to his always
on the move lifestyle. He had always longed to have one home where he could
stay permanently. Where he wouldn't have to wake, pack everything up and move
on. It wasn't that he hadn't ever stayed anywhere for more than a day it was
just that none of those places had been a home. No, he hadn't had a home since
before he had made his vow. His vow to rid the world of evil. *If only I could
just have a home. If only my soul didn't make me continue on this damn fools
errand. How can one man rid a world of evil when the very nature of the world
is the everlasting battle between good and evil? Argh! This is useless
Jonathan. You've gone over it a million times. Nothing will ever change. You
will never have another home. And even if you could have a home would it not
just be ruined again?* Many times had Jonathan Gore gone over this very same
argument in his head. But nothing ever changed. And nothing would. He was
damned to an eternal life of misery. For even in the times of peace he so
longed for he was tormented by the nightmares. Nightmares that weren't
nightmares but memories relived. Memories of his cursed life. Memories that he
would never escape. Memories that would ruin any chance he had at a normal
life. Any chance he had at ever having a real home again. Memories that would
forever torture Jonathan Gore, the Gods' favorite kicking post.
